Is it a tiller handle that you want to convert to remote.

You can get a kit to do it something like this http://www.marineengine.com/parts/johnson-evinrude-accessories/index.php?year=1988&model=Remote+Controls+1988&section=Remote+Control+Conversion+Kit+1800+Cc+Commercial+Tiller&yid=34112&mid=34118&sid=37851 But in my opinion it's better to sell or swap your engine for one thats meets your needs than trying to convert it.

I have converted a few small engines from Honda 15 to Yamaha 6
They all worked out fine but by the time you buy the adaptor, control box and cables it can be quite expensive
As Fergal suggest if you can find one already converted it might prove more economical
I ALS found that when I came to sell the small engine with remotes fitted it was considered a negative as most peo

A small tiller outboard will always sell well among the fishermen and will be worth more as it is, if you convert it you will find less of a market for a remote controlled 8 hp add into the fact that you have buy the kit then spend the day fitting it and another day fine tuning it. So unless the engine is a family heirloom and means a lot to you I would change it, you might even end up with a newer engine.
