Never once has it cut out on me, seems to take longer to start when fuel is lower but there's no set / defined point at when it gets difficult, it has not started at 3/4 full.

That does seem weird alright. Because if there had been a crack in the fuel sender it would only act up when the level dropped low enough for the crack to suck in air. Keep us informed as to how you get on. Hope you get it sorted cheaply as it looks like a lovely car from the pictures.

Well today was very interesting! Got a mountain of work done, a DB9 parked beside me and to top it all off got randomly breathalyzed on the way home! Jokes on the guards though, I don't drink :pac:

So, got pulled over by the guards tonight for driving at the speed limit in tallaght.
Apparently it's suspicious to do that!

How long did it take you to stop? :p

I'd say they spotted the wrong blue car. :pac:

    They actually worked thankfully.
Undercover lads and 3 young lads driving at the speed limit is suspicious.

They stopped questioning us when they found out what we studied! :pac:

Where was it you were stopped?

Haha we're all getting pulled tonight :pac:

There's an innuendo in there somewhere

    About 400 m from the m50.
We were going along thinking, oh there's the guards in there unmarked car, next thing some one undertakes them at speed, us wondering why they didn't pull him. Then they pull us.
In fairness 3 young lads driving slowly at night and not undertaking the unmarked squad car is probably suspicious.

I've noticed a huge increase in guards pulling people in the last couple of months. I've been pulled twice in the last 2 months and never have been before that!

I've gone through five checkpoints this week alone  three in dublin, one in newbridge and one outside naas

Went through an armed checkpoint last week. Armed Guards in black unmarked landcruisers, first I've seen of them.

    Got a quote on the MX5, €1970... Better than €3300 I guess. :/

    That's pretty hefty. I'm 22, and insured for just over 1000 on a mk2.

    It's the age, man.
If I had a later Mk1 or a 2 I'd say I'd have no problem with a good quote. I'll suffer it though.
    I love the car.

They should have fired after the E36 compact that undertook them though :pac:

I am indeed and in one piece :)

Master cylinder looks the culprit, the yard better have some E39's for me :p

And what about the clutch, the grumble of the engine? :p
Hope it's all not to difficult to sort.

    Clutch... Meh :p

Rumbling went out if it on the way home and was smooth, dodgy petril!

Its not too difficult to fix, just finding a master cylinder. Sure you saw the fluid, I could piss out better stuff, no wonder it failed

I have a hankering for an E30 now, either a Saloon or preferably the Touring.

I was looking at 325 coupes around the time I bought the Mazda, they are absolute mad money though!
Still think I'll buy one at some stage, maybe in a few years when the fanboys ease off them. :)

Coupe or Touring, yes. Saloons are pretty gank looking IMO. ; )

Bah, think I'm leaning towards an E91 to replace the GTI now. But of course there's not a single nice one to be had in the country.

A touring ? Do you need the room or something?

The e92 is a lot more appealing looking imo

Someone might be able to help me :)

Anyone know where I can get a master cylinder seal kit for a Lucas/Girling equipped E39? Seems to be sketchy to even find BMW seal kits...!

My mother called me today to say she didnt blow out one but two passenger side tyres. So went over and changed them both Luckily we had a steel rim with a tyre on it the same size in the garage so I used the spare and That tyre. She didnt do any damage to the car or much to the alloy just a small mark on each. but the two sidewalls on the tyres. Its scary to see what way the sidewalls can go when they take a hit. We were going to put new tyres on it last weekend lucky we didnt now id be sick if we had lost two new tyres.

Anyone know whether motor factors would have rocker cover gaskets for BMWs, or is that dealer only territory?

I bought my last set online, but if I can get them tomorrow I might do the job. (I know it's a bit of a shot in the dark asking here, I'll call tomorrow regardless)

I know you wouldn't have it tomorrow, but if they do them a decent factors should too..
