Did the ESB worker who cannot afford to pay his mortgage renege of his contract with the bank? should he and all others to reneged be forced out of their houses. Or is that different despite the fact they signed the contract, just like ESB and companies did.

Can the company not afford it now?
Big difference between a struggling worker and a company making millions.

The real issue is the ESB workers and senior management are really special people that are entitled to whatever they wish, no matter who suffers trying to survive. They are special people because sometimes they have to work in the rain and wind, while the management team have to control things in the comfortable chairs of their offices like their counter parts in Bord Gais. Please do not exasperate things by making disparaging remarks about these gentle souls, do not forget this is winter, you have to boil a kettle, heat your water, heat your house, and have light to be able to go to the toilet at night. Be careful do not upset the people that can pull the switch. There was no talk of action in the hot weather or long evenings.

Tell me about it so. Post #10 is clearly bollox BTW.

There's enough information on here and in the news about it if you care to look.

Now tell me again why the governmentshould hand over €600m of my moneyto your pension company.

    Good God Almighty.....

    1. the figure is not 600m.
    2. it is not your money, none of it.
    3. the government will most likely have to pay squat, while still receiving its annual dividend.

Well I won't see it if thats what you mean. Post #10 is bollox and the article you posted confirmed that.

If ESB pensions have trouble then sack the people working in ESB pensions. Oh wait, you won't. They're in the same union! lol.

What do you mean, begrudgery? I ha e a half decent job and a pension. I don't expect that pension is worth a damn.

Have you looked into your Pension recently? Thats the problem with most people, too lazy to look into their own affairs. Most private pension funds are on the bounce back and this year alone saw mega returns.

My AIB PRSA is up 17% on my conributions, you should look after your pension, not just ignore it and hope it performs.

The day you have to hand over €600M of your money, i'll eat my laptop, and for afters, i'll eat the charger too

The ESB unions have been holding the people of Ireland to ransom for years. At the end of the day its not the government or the company paying, its the poorest people of Ireland paying way above the average for their electric.

The day my pension went down the tubes was way before the last election. I did something about it. Sadly a whole bunch of other fvckers took a different view. Thats democracy.

My pension contributions are now part of the state sponsored shadow banking system. Sucks to be me.

So then maybe some people have balls and fight back while others turn the other cheek and say they can do nothing about it. We are too soft in this country. We take everything that's thrown at us. Just look at us paying all the gambling debts and not a word of protest.

The ESB person goes out to cut your electricty supply to a family because of lack of money due to loss of job, is getting his electricity at less than half the price than the family he is cutting off. Jaysus it makes you wonder did Nidge take the wrong career approach.

Balls? Yes I has balls. No, I wouldn't inflict a powercut on old people in winter. No I wouldn't bail out a pension company who fvcked up. Sue them, have them thrown in the clinker. Sack them at least.

That's a pretty damn wide generalisation to be fair. I doubt the average ESB worker has any say in either where the pension money goes or even if they can opt out of it

    Ref. post 252.

The ESB is not in the public sector, the money they pay on wages or discounts they allow is not public money.
