Galway Road from Corrandulla (near Headford)

Does anyone know the road from Corrandulla (just north of Cloonboo / south of Headford) to Galway City?

It's the same Galway to Headford Road.

Is it Ok commuting along the road from Corrandulla to Galway in the morning, or is it a chocca-blocked?

Is Corrandulla a quiet place?

Anyone know?

I live about 3 miles from Corrandulla (in Corofin). The Headford road I would imagine would be busy in the mornings. The Tuam road isn't too bad once you get past ClareGalway (nightmare). Headford road might be better in the evenings as there is usually a huge tailback on the Galway side of ClareGalway. Hope this helps.

At least you get to drivin in on the Curragh Line, Ireland's straightest yet most uneven piece of road.

The Tuam road isn't too bad once you get past ClareGalway (nightmare).

But then you get to Galway and have to deal with the tailback at Leaders shop

depends what time you hit it. 8:30 and your ok... 9am and your fecked.

You can always turn up Parkmore estate and come in via Western motors bu then you might get caught on the duel carraigeway

Ya it's savage the difference 10/15 minutes has on that
road for traffic. You might as well cut off at claregalway
and go in by carnmore cross. The problem is that
everybody trys the different way into Galway from the
tuam side and all the routes get block up. :rolleyes:

ye'd need it. I travelled up from Tuam for about 4years on the
trot on a bus and I tell you it wasn't a nice experience. Something
about haveing to leave home at 7am and not be home again
untill 7pm just to do a days college/work. It'd put you off going in
at all.;)

Are you from Tuam ? I went to secondry school in Tuam :rolleyes: hole that it is.

Me too!! Daveg and myself went to the tech in tuam till about 91- I think! So you escaped as well jabberwock?? Nice to find another survivor:D

They've kinda fixed it up now, jsut get a car with some lateral aero-dynamic properties (not a bus/truck+trailer) and floor it.
The wind will really throw you off on a bad day though.
Been plenty of accidents during the winter on that thar road.

Depends on what time you're going in and where in Galway city you're going to. I leave Corrandulla between 7.40 and 7.45am, heading for Dyke Road car park in Galway city, but from September to March, the traffic gets backed up in Cloonboo so I arrive in Galway any time between 8.05 and 8.15.

I have also dropped my kids to school at left for work at 8.30 and travel time has varied from 20 mins to 40 mins. Hard to predict!

Roads were quiet this (Monday) morning due to Mayo folk staying in bed after yesterday's drama :-D
