A lot if Dutch people have never heard if Dutch Gold.
I wonder is it even Dutch?

Nearly always get Stella 4 for 5 euro. It's just so goddam tasty and it is strong enough.

One thing about the 'fancier' beers, they're much stronger, so 2 fancy beers would be like having 3 1/2 Carling in my guesstimation so the price can even out a bit more.

Yeah, O Briens often have a big (around 750mls I think) bottle of Inis and Gunn for a fiver, it's close to 7%, definitely does the job. Think the usual price is closer to €6.50 but I try stock up on them any time the offer is on. I say "try and stock up", I do stock up but then I just drink them all, it's a false economy but it's a tasty drunken false economy so ****it

It is only sold in Ireland.

It is brewed by AB, the same people who brought you Budweiser...

Id say he lost his monocle when he read that post.

Both leave a nasty taste in the mouth the next morning. You're better off with alprazolam or diazepam.

    /downer snob

Crikey, here I am talking about cheap yet good beers you can get in Aldi, and I'm being a hispter, snob and an arse?

"Oooh, er, look at herself with her fancy Aldi beers, no reseccion in your house eh? what a snobby hipster!" :pac:

Funny how you don't get called a snob for describing McDonald hamburgers as muck, yet dare to cast a negative comment at Budweiser and everyone loses their minds.

I don't put crap food in my refrigerator or crap beer in it.
One of those things makes me a snob and a hipster apparently.

Some cheaper beers are alright. I tend to go for light, easy to drink ones. I quite like Bavaria when I'm not wanting to spend much.

Without a shadow of a doubt Prazsky is the best value for money beer being sold in this country at the moment. I'm predominantly a dark beer / ale drinker but my favourite 'swallowing beer' is Staropramen which is a little pricey @ €2.69 when you guzzle down 8 of a school night. Prazsky is brewed by Staropramen and at cq. €1.15 a can is without doubt the best beer you can buy for your money. ;)

Aye, I think that beer snob thing does get out of hand, but in fairness seeing as the OP was (I would have thought very obviously) talking about how to get a decent drunk on for as little money as possible (the talk of Dutch Gold in the first post gave that away like), people saying things like "life's too short to drink crap" or "I'd rather drink 1 good beer than 3 crap ones" is a bit law-di-daw.

If people are drinking cheap beer the primary aim is probably to get drunk cheaply, saying "but you could get NOT drunk by drinking this NICE beer" misses the point a bit.

Well the OP is looking for euro-a-can beer and the cheapest option you gave was €1.99. THEN you suggested he build a kegorator and brew his own beer! I'm fairly sure you were serious about the kegorator too...

    Currently enjoying a Weihenstephaner.

I only drink beers whose pronunciation I'm unsure of.

Brahma is a really nice crisp lager that can be got for €1 a bottle, max €1.20 per bottle.

I didn't say brew his own. I said don't pay retail and buy it in bulk and build a cheap kegorator.

Less than €1 a pint and decent beer. That was the problem we were trying to solve...payback after 250 beers.

But that's not really what anyone's saying, if you've only a few euro to spare rattling around in your pocket, and you want to get drunk, there's still some great beers for your money. Didn't someone mention a pack of Leffe for 4.99 in Lidl? Silly cheap for a decent Belgian beer, not quite my thing but you get my point, and I do seem to remember getting Spitfire in Lidl for 1.50.

Nobody is saying buy a crazy expensive tenner a pop beer to show off how refined they are, but it's being taken that way.

Well look at high and mighty here, Methylated spirits? None of your posh stuff thanks, I'll have a swig of turpentine.

You went against the spirit and theme of the thread, hence why people jumped on your backs. if you only had 1e what beer would you buy?

I didn't. And if I only had 1 euro, I wouldn't buy beer, because I couldn't get drunk on one beer, could I? So if the point of the thread was to get drunk cheaply, just buying one cheap beer would fail. See, got you there.

The one I'm drinking right now, local microbrew at $1.32 a pint...I just invested the $52 upfront...:D

I'd drink that Leffe if I only had a fiver.

If I only had a euro to spend on beer...I'd probably not bother with a beer or get my ass to the Czech Republic.

Links and Madsl would buy sugar with the €1 and make up some wonderful hooch-nectar rather than sip on a can of cheap piss.

    Feckin' beer hipsters.. :D
