Prazsky 4 cans for a fiver or perhaps the rarer Primus for the same price found in some Centra's. Or Vratislav at 1.20 a bottle in Tesco 5% Czech beer.

There's nothing hipsterish about liking beer that tastes good.

But my personal favourites for cheap drink is the O'Shea's range in Aldi, their Irish Red is fantastic.

Stella Artois in case you didn't know.

indeed, the attitude of some of the posters on this thread has been laughable, apparently its wrong to drink cheap beer even if thats all you can afford.

I have got some good tips though especially as one poster mentioned ''tuborg'' i have not had that in years.

my choice for **** can of beer goes to ''premium dutch larger'' 1e in supervalue i have to say i never tasted quality that bad even if it was a euro. it has a strong dry taste you would think it was a special brew but its only 4% vol.

Best ''Dutch gold'' 1e in dunnes stores,i have to say i looked down on this beer in the past it has a bad reputation and is commonly referred to as piss water by some, but after trying it i find it clean and refreshing,if you have one can,you will want more.

    I concur

Nothing is sadder than using the word 'hipster' to describe something you don't like.

Perhaps you wish to return to the halcyon days of Guinness, Budweiser or Bulmers as a your beverage choices?

I used it to describe beer snobs and I think it's a perfectly valid descriptor.

Feck you took the words out of my mouth! You can get a 4 pack of karpackie for €5 or €5.50 a lot of places as well

Nothing wrong with liking nice beer, just don't be an arse about it.

It's beer. Drink it, enjoy it and shut your hole.

    Has to be Vratislav.

Cheapest beer I have found, and quite tasty tbh.

Tyskie is another decent one, bit more expensive though.

After the 4th or 5th beer the taste kinda doesn't matter.

Think i'm a rare breed, i do drink cheap beer, craft beer(when i have dosh :)) and mainstream brands. Cheapest stout by far is Beamish and its quite nice out of a can. Only other options as with all drinks is to buy 20-24 frigging cans in a crate to get the price per can down as near to a euro but that is useless if you just have a fiver on you for an evening tipple.

CAMRA was founded in 1971. So hipster it was hipster before hipsters. Except people called them beardy wankers then.

Asked for opinion on the best cheap beers.
    Gives opinion.
    Gets told to shut hole

Hackenberg, 4 cans for 4.40(I swore I saw this recently). Never tasted it but one person told me its rank while another told me its nice, there you have it, 50\50 chance of getting poisoned :)

Yeah me too, I can't stand Heineken and Bud though, they literally just don't taste like beer to me, but I guess that's just a matter of taste, prefer the taste of the European cheapies.

Got 5 bottles of 1795 last night for 10,savage stuff! I'm not the best to listen to when it comes to beer tho,I've a fairly unsophisticated palette!

Actually OP I do have an idea to get good beer for cheap. Stop paying retail.

Build a kegorator. Old fridge, plus a gas bottle and keg taps.

Under €250 if you shop well.

My current keg cost me $52 for 40 pints of a local brewery's Amber ale. That's less than a euro a pint for craft beer.

Nearly always get Stella 4 for 5 euro. It's just so goddam tasty and it is strong enough.

One thing about the 'fancier' beers, they're much stronger, so 2 fancy beers would be like having 3 1/2 Carling in my guesstimation so the price can even out a bit more.
