Bagpipes are just class too, also notable is that its combined with violins,cellos pounding japanese taiko drums in its soundtrack practically every instrument you could think of it, to form a sound like nothing else. Easily the best soundtrack to a TV series, does things few other composers would dare.

Reason that bagpipes get such a bad rap is all the bands and players unable to play them or tune them properly.
They're a head-wrecking, tempermental b*tch of an instrument, gets too cold..they sound flat...gets too hot...they go sharp. They dry out, they spring leaks....play them in the rain, they have to be taken apart and dried out. It's not like you can pick them up and start playing and they're grand, it's endless tuning and re-tuning.

I'm a big fan of bagpipes - massively powerful. I was at a Soldiers funeral a couple of years ago with full military honours and as the procession approached the church you could hear the bagpipes off in the distance sends a shiver down my spine just thinking of it.
