Is it just me - or does that still look the biz in any 2013 executive carpark.

Now the only question is how to spend the 50 grand saved over a new one that's still in the back pocket :D.

I'd love to know what that Jag was new.... I mean not even 1k and I bet if you went with 850 you'd have it. But an 03 2.1 Jag with leather/AC and an NCT until next July + Tax until 31/01/14 for less than a 1k is just shocking! With the tax about 255e per quarter that Jag works out at just about 700e
One thing I love about Ireland, the bargains are endless

It may not be a real jag, but at that price it is certainly an excellent bangernomics candidate (it is an FWD , based on a mondeo)

I think it looks a hell of a lot nicer than its successor!

Its just the road tax thats the problem really. But that goes without saying.

That's only the 2.2 though (I mean only as in that means tax is a bit less then a 2.5 or 3 litre).

The other side of that argument however is - how much would you have to pay to come into a car that's comparable with that if you wanted lower tax - especially if you want the cheap post 08 tax.

A good e39 is still a stunning car for the money you can buy them for now.

    Definitely great bangernomics material

Jeez that looks business, may be I can ask my boss to pay me this months wages a bit early (OK 3 weeks) :D

Insurance-wise it's not that bad I'm up by 150 only on this one...

When new, it was circa €40k:)

Any car does if not maintained ;)

(to answer the question you were probably asking, yes it has the K series engine)
Not true. Not every car suffers from hg failure and not every hg failure is down to lack of maintenance.

In Rovers case it's sh*te design that leads to hg failure. You can maintain them all you want, change the coolant every week, get the uprated hg fitted etc yet they will still blow head gaskets.

Love the e39. I've been driving a bunch of brand new rentals (Corolla, i20, Polo, Cruze etc.) and would trade these for a nice e39 in a heartbeat. Such a nice car to drive. 2.2 liter engine is not very powerful but it's enough.

Why would you ever want to buy a brand new car if something like that can be bought for 2k. The total cost of ownership over 5 years would probably be lower on the BMW too even if few things went wrong with it.

I'd be wary of an old freelander being sold by someone with 30 other cars for sale a few different phone numbers, some dogs, and a car not on Irish plates.

What that car needs are some German style plates :D
That would really set her off..

sub would be the first thing to go though.. the dog would be the only Woofer in that boot :D

    Nice alfa 156 v6.
    Nct'd until August.
Not enthusiast owned as indicated by
    A) the last busso was built in 2005, 7 years later so not the 'last of them'
    B) no enthusiast lets the belt go 70k miles without changing.

Still cheap and will swap for an iPhone or road bike!
