not tables but have seen glass shower panels that have exploded something to do with temperature change or something or other. Glass is fickle

I think I recall reading something about extremes in temperature weakening glass. The sidetable was next to a rad, could it have been touching it?

The coffee table.....as above, don't throw your ipad at it:D

Perhaps you could purchase wooden tables?
Save you the hassle of cleaning up all that glass if another glass one breaks

    weird,lots of things smashing lately,

last saturday my grandmother's evil sister in law died.

that evening her mirror flew off the wall it had been hanging on for years and smashed into as many pieces as that table!

All glass explodes eventually. It's just a ticking bomb. Why do you think all the old castles and old Celtic ruins and the like don't have glazed windows?

it has to be something to do with temperature changes. but in this case, I think, it's more to do with the product quality.
my partner was sitting on the coach at the moment it happened. bare feet on the table of course but there was a cushion in between - lucky.
side table exploded in June when heating was off.

A shower screen exploded on me when I was giving my niece a bath. She was only a teeny baby at the time and thankfully she wasn't hurt. It scared the ****e out of me though having glass explode in my face its been shower curtains for me ever since:D

Those shards are pretty big, it looks like the table wasn't made out of good toughened glass, otherwise the pieces would be much smaller chunks. Bigger pieces are much more likely to injure.

A well-informed and educated post regarding the complexity and inner detail of glass.

    thats mad!

Parents once had a glass table top, that(trying to get rid of) spent ages trying to break. seriously.. placed it at an angle and threw heave ass rocks on it... not even a chip on the damn thing. Decided to slide it behind the oil tank..where it still sits!
