Windows Media Center DVB-S issues

Well first post, please no laughing as I am sure there is a simple solution to my problem.

I use Windows Media Center on Windows 7 (and 8) and have been using Elgato Eye TV network tuners to receive DVB-S and S2. Mostly it works fine but I find that I just cannot received some of the channels (Five, BBC2 HD, etc.) Thinking it was the tuner I purchased a Q-Box S2, I was thinking a USB solution would be better, but I have the same problem.

Could it have anything to do with the fact that I am using a Squish Dish? The signal in Media Center is just missing one bar so I assume it is not.

Any help would be appreciated. I have been using Media Center since XP (yes before the guide). I want to stick with Media Center because I use the Extender functionality on the Xbox 360 to actually watch TV.

Are the missing channels at a particular end of the frequency range? I ran into problems before that were caused by damage to the cable - some of the channels at one end of the frequency range could not be tuned.

Cable is fine. I have 3 separate cables all with the same problem.

Got fed-up yesterday and decided to try the EyeTV sat free again on a different machine. This product also came with TerraTec Home Cinema which I installed and it can display the channels that don't work in Media Centre. The HD ones seem a little jumpy but the production Media Centre is mush more powerful so if I can solve the problem on this one I will move it over.

I have put in a support call to elgato so we will see what happens.

So a solution finally. This is something that has driven me crazy on and off over a number of years but I just decided this time I was going to fix it.

So there was no problem other than:
    1. When you set up Windows Media Center TV the Saoirview setup works perfectly. The DVB-S/S2 not so much. The frequencies that it uses are out of date so you would think that doing a full scan would sort this wouldn't you.
    2. Well no because the scan would seem to be hard coded! So you have to find the transponder frequencies of the channel you are looking for and manually scan.
    All working now.
