So far I think it's very good. I like the weirdness of it. Takes me about 20 listens to make judgement so it's early days.

Loving this album quite a bit I have to say, even on first listen!

    9.2! 9.2!

Pitchfork have spoken so I can now declare my fondness for it.

I bought it on itunes there. What's the story w the track before the 1st one. Is this only available on the cd as a hidden track? :/

Going to grab myself a ticket for Glasgow on the 15th, then have Queens of the Stone Age on the 16th. Should be an awesome weekend. Hopefully not many have picked up on "The Reflecktors"

Live performance of the album from last night.

After listening to it a lot over the last few days it's gotten better but only slightly. The middle few tracks (end of disc one, start of disc two) drag a lot but it picks back up eventually with Afterlife.

    A 6/10 imo.

Edit: Setlist for that live show

    1. Reflektor
    2. Flashbulb Eyes
    3. Afterlife
    4. Supersymmetry (with Perfect Day intro and Satellite of Love outro (by Lou Reed))
    5. It's Never Over (Oh Orpheus)
    6. We Exist
    7. You Already Know
    8. Normal Person
    9. Here Comes the Night Time
    10. Sprawl II (Mountains Beyond Mountains)

Not a dreadful album but their weakest by a long stretch - too bogged down in arrangement and production quirkiness and not enough songcraft for my liking.

Sounds like a band who have nothing left to say lyrically so they are throwing loads of **** at the wall to see what sticks. Heavy on Irony and playfulness to the point where it seems like they are embarrassed to be a rock n roll band.

Ironically even with all the attempts to make a weird album by tacking on lots of weird **** they have created some quite dull and mediocre indie rock songs here by their own very high standards. Not to say I don't like some of the album, I really like "We Exist" and "Porno" but as an album overall it lacks truly memorable hooks, melodies and is not my cup of tea sonically. Too arch and too pleased with itself to connect with on the same level as previous efforts.

overall, very disappointed. really like Afterlife. Joan of Arc and Reflecktor are good. i really don't get the point of the last track.

this album really growing on me. i prefer it to suburbs and wayyy better than neon bible. dare i say it, might even be better than funeral... must listen more.

Normal Person and Joan of Arc are the only two tracks that stand out as significantly weak. The rest is excellent.

To be fair, Arcade Fire's output is so brilliant usually and the expectations for each new release so high it's difficult to tell how the new album would be received if it was by a newish group. Even AF at their worst are pretty great. I might warm to it in time but I don't think it'll be one that I listen to much bar the odd one or two tracks.

I thought The Suburbs dragged in the middle, and this one does as well. Here Comes the Night Time and Porno are cool though...

I'm pretty disappointed. Its good, because its Arcade Fire, but honestly if I didn't already know the band I don't think these songs would stand out to me. Its been less than a week and I'm already tired of them. I think I ruined the impact of the album for myself by listening to the live tv special too much.

Faves are We Exist, Joan of Arc, You Already Know. Least fave are Porno, Awful Sound and Supersymmetry. I think those three are even weaker than the weaker tracks on The Suburbs.

After listening quite a bit ....

The 2nd half of the album is fantastic - even Supersymmetry (just stop the album for the fade out bit)

2 tracks that don't do anything for me are the 2nd and 3rd tracks (We Exist and Flashbulb)

    It's an excellent album overall!

I think it's as strong as the last two. After listening non stop for a week the standouts for me are Joan Of Arc, It's Never Over and Afterlife

I think it`s a flawed but brave album.I think a lot of people were hoping they would unleash their inner U2 (though they`d be loathe to admit it!)and give us a widescreen epic full of melodic electro rock anthems..based on this album, they clearly ain`t chasing the almighty buck-the triple whammy of Hey Orpheus,Porno and Afterlife is pretty fantastic!

Thought this was very "meh" at first but decided to give it a proper chance.

Really glad I did. It's an absolute stormer. I love it the more I listen to it. Couple of duds but it's a great album.

For some reason I'm only finding out about this album now.

Must give it a listen during the day but I can't believe they're playing in London next week. I would have definitely gone if I'd known.

Was near impossible to get a ticket, and even if you got through at 9.00am on ticketmaster, for the general sale or the pre-sale, you needed to have a valid credit card with a UK billing address in order to validate the sale.

I didn't bother with the pre-sale but I tried to get general tickets just in case the UK address thing was just for the pre-sale, and got 2 tickets lined up for the 11th, but when I got through to the delivery page to enter my address again it said that they are unavailable to people outside the UK. It's a paperless ticket so they need to be able to swipe your card.

A shame but I didn't really expect to get them anyway so no loss really. Holding out for the rumoured Irish date.
