erra im so used of things going pear shaped I take no notice, currently have a solenoid playing up on the gearbox and when the oil heats up, it sticks and causes all sort of error codes. Seat back and a half hours rest and off we go again. :D:D
    calm and collective

Ha, had the very same problem in our test last April, except it was a 6month old fr bullock. Searched around for him, but couldnt bloody find him. The group he had been in had escaped out along the cliff face afew weeks early, so we assumed he must have fell over. Told all this to a fairly disinterested girl in the ag/food department, who knocked him off the system no problem for me!

Anyways only there afew weeks ago, I came across a brand new set of tags, same number of the bullock! So it turned out afterwards that he must have died as a calf, been taken by the local knackery but never knocked off the system, and we had been searching for a phantom bullock ha!

And ****ty morning here also, was letting the cows out to one of the silage paddocks, they go through a field to a laneway in the 2nd yard, which has a gate out to the main road, I somehow managed to leave the gate wide open before letting the cows out, all bloody 60 or so of them walked right out on the road, and set off down it, before I spotted them! Drove after them, thinking "OH FU£K OH FU%K OH FU&K", I had no way of getting in front of them at all. Afew cars around as well, definitely an accident waiting to happen!! Anyways by pure luck, my dad was checking the cattle in the adjoining outfarm, 1/2mile down the road, and had left the gate open, and the cows decided to turn in there! Disaster over, plenty of choice words from my dad also!

I'm thinking my dad registered him after the knackery took him, by mistake or something. He might even have just registered an extra calf, that never existed!

years ago when my da would scrape out the sheds he would leave cows in the yard, he didnt close gate and they went down the lane and up to local crossroads, they turned round and all ran home, he only noticed they where gone when they where all coming back up the lane

not saying it wouldnt happen but unusual to take the one if there was a few in the field unless the idea was to keep it under wraps hoping the missing animal wasnt noticed straight away
