That offer only applies to games you bought off them and have the receipt for or at least it does in the US but it's also $10 for the same offer over there.

Have my ps4 pre ordered for midnight launch in gamestop in the blanchardstown centre, anyone else planning on arriving early that day to que?

I won't be a happy camper if I am not in the first 20 people!

The xbox release should give an indication of what que times and how many people show up!

Im planning on parking the car nice and close and queing from about 1 pm

Genuine question but what benefit do you get from queueing so early? Surely you've already got the PS4 secured?

    queing from about 1 pm

Queuing for eleven hours? Jeez no way I could do that, the next morning will do just fine...

Will have to agree with everyone above. Surely no need to queue so early, for a midnight launch, as they will only be selling pre-orders.

Pre order is secured in Xtra Vision, will be rolling up about 11:45pm, collecting console circa 12:10am and heading home!

What's up with that oxen dales place? €660 for a Killzone bundle?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,506 ✭✭✭✭Xenji

For the Gamestop midnight releases they will not be letting anyone in the store without a ticket, so no real need to queue, if they have 60 consoles waiting for collection it will only be the first 60 on the list that will be given a ticket and allowed access to the store, they will also have security on the door.

    depends.

The Smyths I am getting my consoles from has 80 PS4's as far as I know.

I don't particularly want to wait behind 80 people to collect my PS4 - completing all those transactions will take quite a while, especially if people are only select games/bundles on the day.

Shouldnt be a need to queue to get your console - but to get it with the games you want and be home quickly enough after opening.... you will probably need to queue.

Not a chance ill be there at the midnight launch 1) you dunno whose going to be hanging around 2) its to risky 3) wouldn't be setting up the console till the morning anyways.

Ill pop in in the morning when its full daylight get it and bring it home, easier and safer that way

    Shin

What difference does it make if you have it preordered?

could be waiting ages to get your console, as people can take a while to complete transactions.

Just a note about VGP, if you want to trade in the games you get from them, Gamestop will not take them due to it being non European, they know when they scan it, they might change that policy if DLC becomes region free though.

No transactions will be allowed on the night if its a midnight release, you have to have it payed off the day before, well in Gamestop anyway.

Ok, I get that, I should have been clearer, that I think queueing for something like 11 hours isn't needed. Surely showing up an hour or 2 before would do the job.

This might have been answered earlier in the thread but:

    - is Gamestop contacting people about bundles?

I preordered a PS4 at E3. Have heard nothing from them since about any bundle options etc. Normal, or should I call into them about it?

Call into them, they have been on their system for over a month now.

Not going anywhere near Gamestop for the midnight launch.

I'll be perfectly happy to pick it up in safe, broad daylight the following morning and probably way less of a frenzy.

You'd need your head looked at to be queuing for something so coveted at midnight imo.

Anyone looking for a console and bundle for launch day.

homeandgardengifts.co.uk have one of each left guaranteed for launch day.

    Incredible how this still happens.

Purposefully low supply to ensure there is increased hype, pre-order numbers and maintaining high price.

Have been leaning towards a PS4. I havn't pre-booked anything, although in no real rush. Probably hang off till January/February to see what the inevitable launch issues with the console is. Although have to say from looking at launch deals, Amazon looks to be far superior.
Heres hoping for some decent Janaury bundles.

A supply of 5 million consoles between the end of November and March is not that small, although outside of the the US you will only see 2 million consoles made available, which will lead to a lot of shortages, even stores in the US are telling people it will be February now now before they clear their pre order lists, will be longer over here.

I don't trade in games anyway so not much of an issue for me personally.
