Ben, of the ancient clann Gilroy (TM) has been arrested by a court he doesn't recognize according to the Journal today. No doubt he will soon be walking free, given his and his merry band of freemen's refusal to recognize the walls in his cell. :pac:

In seriousness though, it will be interesting to see what way he chooses to go about this. If he chooses to act as one would normally be expected to in Court, his lunatic freeman base may abandon him as a sell-out to the cause. If he chooses to act as a freeman does in Court, he will be locked up for contempt.

    Quite a conundrum for Ben(TM)

I had a few Klingons myself at the weekend. Had to get the scissors and 2 mirrors out to clear them.

When you consider what 'they' did to that poor fella Count Markievicz, who knows what'll happen Gilroy...

Good luck to him. He'll appear before a court with a judge dressed up like a clown. Gilroy might as well act like one too.

The only winner in a court is a barrister.

I'm just going to leave this here until such a time as the judge decides to throw a copy of the statute book at him

check out the thread in the legal discussion forum. the ddi party is imploding and it looks like he has closed his blog.

there's comedy and tragedy there in equal measure.

Nothing wrong with a bit of Shakespeare.

People like Gilroy are the problem with the public perception of being freeborn. It's not a completely bullsh1t movement, but just like anything else, it's the crazies who are loudest and most stupid about it.

Sorry when you use the expression "freeborn" and then contend that it is not complete bullsh1t you have me dubious.

Do however continue...what does 'freeborn' imply?

I noticed that too. I wonder how many on here went looking for it when that story appeared yesterday.....

It is a bullsh1t movement, as any movement which contends that one can emancipate themselves from the law or that some combination of magic pseudo-legal words can get them off the hook in court (on account of court being a massive conspiracy, bound by admiralty law or some crazy stuff like that) cannot be anything but crazy.

Add to that the fact that the "freeborn" lads are actually preying on vulnerable people to peddle this bull (for which they unknowingly run the risk of getting into serious trouble with the law), and you can guess why most people have antipathy towards them

has been arrested by a court
That's a new erosion of our civil liberties. When did they change the law to allow a court arrest anybody? It's a disgrace!

You're sure now? Because that's not what it said on the order form, the box and the instructions.

Ben Gilroy? I thought he went in hiding to Mexico.

The solution is simple. If his name is trade marked, just sue every time the court uses it on the grounds of trademark infringement. They won't be able to swear him in. Mate of mine got really rich from doing this... last time I saw him, he was walking around town in a fur coat, puffing on a cuban.

You should be his legal advisor.
