Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

    Hi all!

Will be home for Christmas from abroad, looking forward to spending time with the family, but with the OH we would like to get away for a couple of days between the 26th and the 30th.

We'd be looking ideally for somewhere that has all of the following:

By the sea (we live about 300km from the sea, so it'd be nice to hear some waves crashing)
Accessible by public transport (Bus Eireann or private operators)
Nice walks in the area, preferably looped, accessible on foot (don't need a car to get out to)
    Good pub(s)
At least one decent restaurant that's open over the Christmas period (probably a big ask!) - otherwise a pub that does a decent evening meal.
    Accommodation.

I realise it's a long list :D, but any ideas are welcome.

Perhaps Aran Islands? Where will you be coming from/your base in Ireland?

Tullamore area. I assume the ferries run over Christmas?

They do, check the ferry websites and also B&Bs etc if you decide to go over. Pubs should be open but maybe not all of them..

Maybe Salthill in Galway would be better, there's def a lot going on around Christmas and pubs etc will be open.

Clifden might be easier to get to by bus, I'd imagine. Roundstone seems to be quite small and off the beaten track.

Clifden would be easier by bus, although there is a bus through Roundstone several times a week .Roundstone would not be as busy as clifden but has ts to offer too.
