Fitting curtains into plinth

I am trying to fit curtains and after drilling a 10mm wide hole for plasterboard fixings I get 25mm in and I have hit the plinth. So now my fittings are useless and I can't move up further as there is only ~200mm to the ceiling from the top of the window. Anyone have any ideas of what I should do?

I presume you mean the hard concrete lintel above the window, that you cant drill into. ?
A Lintel is less than 100mm, so you should be able to go above it.

One solution is to get a sheet of wood, the full length of the window, and the full height to the ceiling, and use a bunch of small fixings that will fit. The curtain rail can be screwed into this.
Easy enough to paint or wallpaper over it if you need to.

-If its upstairs, the very top of the wall may have timber behind it. Its the wallplate that the ceiling joists sit on.
