BBC Radio 6 are making a tribute night of it for any fans out there. Just played Run Run Run. Currently playing Satellite of Love.

lot of commentary on the net suggesting this may be a hoax mostly based on the fact that no major news channels were putting it out (that has changed) and that Rolling Stone seemed to be the only source. According to the RTE website "The magazine gave scant details about the death, and Reed's representatives could not immediately be reached to confirm the news."

    BBC have confirmed it http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-24697765#TWEET936826

If you want to get into it, you got to get out of it. (Hawkwind 1982)

    ,

Funny that, my reaction also when I saw the thread title. Saw him in Croke Park in 87.

Lou, Lou, Lou, it's the beginning of a great adventure;)

    RIP:)

I've just heard/read suggestions of this as well, with alot of news outlets using the line according to reports/rollingstones.

One of the only news outlets not using the above line so far.

Not such a perfect day after all, I love that song, anytime I hear it it calms me, love the version with multiple artists.

Walk on the wild side is another favourite.

    RIP Mr Reed

What a shame. He was so influential. I love VU and his solo stuff was great too especially New York.

Heartbroken when I heard this. He wrote such unique and beautiful music.

RIP Lou, you'll be sorely missed.

My point was, that at the time, many news outs and agencies, including your link from the Irish Times, were running with the line, 'according to reports/rollingstone', rather than the line 'confirmed'. This though has since changed now that Lou's own people have confirmed it.

It was not just a post previous to mine, that had brought up the question of a hoax, but also on FB, and other places on the internet, both this evening, and earlier today.

If him, Cale and Mo Tucker had gotten back together again for a proper VU reunion, that's the only time I'd have spent absolutely anything to see them. Not happening now, that's a proper shame!

    My favourite Lou Reed song.
I think he might even have approved of the two nutters miming to it. I like it anyway.

Saw him supporting U2 on the Joshua tree tour in about 87?

he was LOUD and to be honest, a disappointment.

still, if anyone wanted to make jokes about his passing....

today would be a perfect day

Surely one of the coolest people in rock 'n' roll.

My God is rock'n'roll - Lou Reed

" Music mogul Simon Cowell said he was "so sad" to hear that musician Lou Reed had died, calling the star "a legend".

Poor Lou - How vulgar and ironic (even in death)
