Is that game still going ahead? I heard it was called off due to a bereavement

the clare hurlers ......AHEM.....:pac: sorry i ment to say cratloe had a good win over kilrush in the football championship winning 2-06 to 0-07 fergal lynch being there best player,

they play eire og next week in the semi final which should be a cracker,

well done to lissycasy who won the minor final by a point aswell , as a man who hails from a rival parish it can be hard to say ;) , but what i heard they deserved to win it!!!

I'm from a rival parish also (maybe from the same club!) and hate admitting it but fair play to them, most clubs in west Clare are struggling to field under 21 teams but Lissycasey seem to be going from strength to strength

If it is on next week then it means that the final can't be on for another 3 weeks, surely too late to have a team in Munster unless they nominate someone, maybe the winners of Eire Og and Cratloe?

Nominations aren't accepted anymore, if you don't have Champions you don't have a representative.

Whitegate dropped down from senior a few years ago, Feakle have been intermediate for a since mid to late 90s I think.

i just read on the clare fm obituaries page that the funeral mass is on at 12 o'clock with burial afterwards, the match is fixed for 2 o clock!!

so according to this the county board expct the players to attend a funeral for the father of one of there team mates and play a match straight afterwards crazy!!!

i dont think we share the same club but both clubs have a big rivalary with them i come fro the parrish to the west of lissyceasy that play in the kerry colours if i am not mistaking you are from a parrish to the south;)
some people prefer to keep there identity's private so i will let people guess for them selves,

but yeah they are putting together a great springboard for the future i am starting to get neverous at the taught of what they might achieve

Yep. Tommy Guilfoyle is involved with Feakle, wouldn't have a clue as to what their team is tbh, main forwards would possibly be Tommy's son and a Neville lad.

For Whitegate Brendan Bugler would be their mainstay

So in the hurling, do I have this right?

Semi finals next weekend Nov 3
Final the following one Nov 10
    Then Munster match Nov 17

Not sure what happens in event of any cancellations or replays

That's my take on it. The semi's will have to see a winner, no matter how long it takes.

One semi on next Sat and the other on Sunday. Pitches getting fairly heavy these days and the forecast for this week isn't too promising for hurling

yeah but the funeral is on at the moment . cooraclare turned down doonbeg's request to play it at 5 o clock tonight . the likleyhood is they wont turn up and doonbeg will get the walkover, it wont help matters between the two parrish's they were never the best of friends in the first place

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,441 ✭✭✭Boots234

Ya that was always going to be a hard hitting game before this happened. This is crazy stuff, it's a county quarter final. I presume it's more the county board's fault in that they won't postpone the game until next weekend rather than Doonbeg's, who would surely be willing to play it on another date?

Makes the clare gaa look like a heartless crowd of btards!! Would love to see Cooraclare win!

BTW: I m not from there!! they have beaten us plenty of times!!!

i think alot has to do with the fact that doonbeg could'nt play it mid week because of players with work commitments cooraclare couldnt play today , i am sure doonbeg could have arranged something for mid week to help out

doonbeg get there walkover they play lissycaesy next saterday again in kilmihil very harsh on cooraclare

what i hear now is doonbeg rejected the walkover and the ball was not throwing in!!! the reff's match report to be sent to the ccc tomorow. as the county board see it doonbeg will play in the semi final next week. its a compleat mess

does it still count as a walkover if the ball is not thrown in and they score??

Always thought once one team didn't show up that was good enough to get a walkover..

piss up and brewery spring to mind when I hear of the county board!!!

i think doonbeg just turned up to avoid being throwing out of the championship or fined or whatever because as it stands they have refused to accept the walkover, i dont think they submitted a team sheet , so i dont think they can collect a walkover,

the ironic thing about it aswell was the doonbeg players/supporters had to pass the funeral on the way to the match its self,

alot of people are starting to get fed up with the county board at this stage, i mean they put clonlara's game back a week in the hurling because donal o donavon could'nt make it home in time, and then they let this happen

county board don't give a sh%te about football.

They'd be happy to run the whole off as a blitz over one weekend!!!

i dont think its as simple as that, there are plenty of west clare people on the board as well i think parrish rivalry's have alot to do with it aswell . i have no doubt this game could have been fixed for later in the week, but it would look very bad on doonbeg had they accepted the walkover!!

on a better note the clare u17's hammered tippeary in the munster u17 final in the gaelic grounds 1-15 to 0-07 good to see the work paying off as i have said before the development at underage level in football seems to be at the highest standerd's that i have seen at any stage before in the county

The county board have let this situation develop because they haven't structured their fixtures properly over the year. At this stage Croke park should step in and insist that rounds of the champtionships be played after County games.

Clare County board should be renamed Clare County Hurling team board as they have been compliant on every move the senior management wanted and this this to detriment of the clubs.

We now are in the stage that we won't have a team in the Munster club. You know what,, who cares if we don't a familiy funeral will always be more important than any match. If we miss out on the Munster club then so be it.

Initially Clonlara's request was turned down for postponing for a week. It was only when Cork Co board agreed to put back the Munster club game between Clare champions and Cork champions for a week that the hurling Q finals were postponed. Otherwise any postponment would have led to County final on a Saturday and the winners playing Munster club the following day.

When are Clare winners out in football?
Is there enough weekends between now and then to have a winner represent the county in Munster?

If games are postponed, the county management can request postponment, its the clubs and their representatives that vote.

Why in Gods name did football championship not start till August? That's an absolute joke. Or was that at the request of the hurling management??
