If only this was a 1.7 diesel it would be a perfect bangermobile.

ironically the reasons a 1.7 diesel (turbo obviously) would make a perfect bangermobile is why you wont find them anymore - highly suited to high mileage driving - can't remember the last time I seen one for sale with less then 200 k miles on the clock.

Did see a nice grey 95 1.7 (old shape) about 12 months ago driving up the street in the local town.

but they are all gone at this stage id say :( - shame - nice cars by the diesel standards of the time - that's the Isuzu engined turbo diesel im on about to be fair.

Could this be even better than the 147 from a few days ago.... Well no, but it's still nice. :D:D

Aye. Doesn't make much sense on a manual, that's why I asked. the only thing I could think of is a very sensitive (extra) setting on the traction control? Or maybe the seller is bullsh1tting :D

Probably just googled specs for an is200

Do they still like their drink? Have always liked them, but couldn't stomach low 20's mpg.
Also reckon it might be for sale for a few weeks, as the original nct expiry date is in the details, but the info was updated when the new nct was gotten. If that makes sense.

Nct for 11 months and taxed for 8, looks like a great bargain.

    Too good too be true?

I saw that ad earlier but got suspicious when I saw the Punto with an almost identical description. (The 'See all ads from this seller' option is handy)

That same Alfa is in another earlier ad by someone else, with no mention of tax or NCT, so maybe this one is the genuine ad.

The below is a general 'signature' and not part of any post:

FYI, if you move to a 'smart' meter electricity plan, you CAN'T move back to a non-smart plan.

You don't have to take a 'smart' meter if you don't want one, opt-out is available.

Buy drinks in 3L or bigger plastic bottles or glass bottles or cartons to avoid the DRS fee.

i have dealt with this guy, he has a primera advertised it was mine, there was a lot done to it, so it will require nothing for a long time, i changed it because it had gone too big for me to manage, i needed smaller to stay driving.

Wasn't there a 1.7 opel unit fitted to those as well. From what I remember the Isuzu was a far superior engine.

It's not that black and white. Generally, yes the 20 year rule applied traditionally. But anything exotic (all Ferraris, Porsches, etc.) can be insured as a classic at 15 years

And more recently some insurance companies have got quite flexible. Matt Simis (a regular here) recently got his 13 year old BMW 7-series insured as a classic!

    My ads on adverts.ie:

Victron stuff for sale, Multiplus-II, Quattro, other inverters and batteries and usually some watches!

Yes - there was a 1.7 opel unit fitted to the Vectra - those were all non turbo though - and not very refined from memory (and slow - 17/18 seconds 0 to 60 from what I remember).

Could have been an enlarged version of the 1.6 diesel fitted to Asconas but not sure.

As you say the Isuzu unit was a lot better - performance a lot better (I have recollection of seeing a road test on a uK mag that achieved 12.5 secs 0 to 60), much more refined and the engine helped make the car rather then ruining it like the Opel unit did.

I believe the Isuzu unit was very economical as well for the level of performance and refinement offered.

In fairness though - a lot of the performance was due to the car not being particularly heavy and it still wasn't any more powerful then the 1.6 petrol - but that was still good going in the early 90s for a 1.7 diesel (albeit turbocharged) to match a 1.6 petrol version of the same car for performance.

    €1,600. I bet €1,500 buys it.

Seller is a dealer, I've seen loads of ads up from him/her.

Even so, lovely car. Last in the long line of elegant stylish Mercedes coupes. No other brand has ever managed to come close to achieving that combination.

So that lad is of the mind that a 90s Starlet is worth more than the S Class he is selling? Mental IMO.

Re the Merc Coupe, it says 230 Kompressor, so does that in essence mean its a 2.3 turbo?

It's a 2.3 with a supercharger. Quick enough. I owned the cabriolet version for a while.

It's the facelifted version too. The pre-facelift has the repeaters in the wing rather than the mirrors.
