I got a tub of Strawberries and Cream Ice-Cream (in the red tub) in Aldi today (Don't know if it's Specially Selected) and it's down from €2.79 to €1.39 which is great because Aldi don't generally reduce prices. (Well they don't really need to, but you know what I mean!)

The Ice cream I was talking about is in a black square carton, I think it's about €2.39 or the likes. It's very nice in Chocolate, Vanilla and Strawberry, think they used to have a Honeycomb too.

The strawberry flavour of this ice cream has got to be my absolute favourite ice cream. So creamy and luxurious tasting.

I bought Aldi's vacuum packed Smoked Mackerel yesterday for €1.79 and I had it tonight with some salad.

There were two decent sized fillets and another smaller slice.

I grilled it for 5 minutes (already cooked, just needed heating) and I have to say, I was really impressed.
Full of flavour and really good value.

They also sell Peppered Mackerel too.

Aldi's pancakes.. there's 8 small sized ones in a pack.. they're so fluffy!
Aldi's strawberry jam.. I've never tasted a nicer jam anywhere, full of fruit!
Aldi's Camomile tea.. best I've tried yet!
Aldi's Angus beef burgers.. So tasty!
Aldi Duneen strawberry yoghurt.. tastes exactly the same as Yoplait!
    All cheap as chips!

I find them nicer than Lidl's too.

Aldi's Duneen yoghurts are great. I love the Melon and Orange ones.

Bought Lidl's teabags last week. They are by Fallons. They're perfect and make a great cup of tea.

Have been shopping in Aldi over a year now.

I was out and about and had to go into a shopping centre that only had a Tesco, so thought I'd pick up a few bits & pieces while I was there.

I started putting stuff in the trolley...and was adding up the cost in my head...I thought I'd 'treat' myself to some of the brand names I hadn't bought in over a year (Batchelors beans, Lyons tea etc)....my trolley was less than half full and the total was almost double what I would have paid for the same products in Aldi. So I did a U-turn and put everything back!!

I was the same as others here - used to do a 'bit' of shopping in Aldi but would inevitably end up in Dunnes or Tesco for branded stuff that I had myself convinced were nicer in taste. Wouldn't go near those shops now - Aldi all the way!! And the Super 6 are great this week:D

So your "treat" was going to cost more? How is that surprising?
If you bought own brand or cheaper brands in tesco you could reduce the price too.

It annoys me that people do not compare like with like when discussing the "value" in Aldi or Lidl.

The part that compares 'own brand' supermarket items with Aldi items. There is no comparison. The quality of Aldi produce far exceeds any own brand supermarket produce.

All the Aldi baked stuff is lovely.. have yet to try any of their breads or cakes and not like them...

Also their strawberry jam is amazing.. full of chunks of strawberry.. think it's about 60c for a jar.. compared to say, the Supervalue everyday value strawberry jam which is rank imho..

The Aldi beef medallions are amazing. €5 for two. I had them Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and yesterday. They are that good in my opinion! I found them great with a spice that I also got in Aldi a while back. I think it's called Montreal Steak. Great stuff.

I also buy the frozen chicken breast a good bit also. They are 4 quid. It says there is enough for 4 but to be honest I'd easily eat two thirds of it. It's so handy though to just stick it in the oven for an hour and a half and do nothing else with it. I get it quite a bit when I'm in work because I'm not able to stand over the cooking.

Usually I only buy meat from my local butchers but these two products are definitely worth buying.

I'm hooked on Lidl's cream crackers. They're the nicest I've tasted in a long time. I can't stop eating them! I'm having some at my desk right now

Are they very pale ones, or do they have brown overcooked spots like this pic

I got tesco ones recently, they are how I like them -pale. Only 26cent for a normal pack.

    I would call these pale

They're quite pale alright. They have some light brown stops but definitely not that overcooked burned look or taste to them. When they're in your mouth they're perfectly doughy/mealy (for want of a better description). Nom!

Has anyone tried ALDI gin? I'm considering getting a bottle tomorrow, apparently it's beaten off even the likes of Bombay Sapphire in blind taste tests, and has won awards. I'm on a bit of a 'try different gins' adventure so wondering if anyone recommends.

Aldi in Australia have a range of coffee machines & pods to rival Nespresso
    http://www.expressi.com.au/ (and are pretty good)

Do they have this in Ireland at all?

I'm just curious more than anything else

    Not yet but fingers crossed.
