    Not too sure if this is the right place to post this, I'm studying beauty therapy at the moment and I am extremely interested in the skincare aspect. I want to study dermatology, but the gap between beauty therapy and dermatology seems huge and there doesn't seem to be a clear progression route. How can I go about studying dermatology without having studied medicine, and would my beauty therapy qualifications help me in any way? I would even consider studying in the UK if opportunities there were less limited than here.

    Any advice appreciated :)

    Dermatologists are all medical doctors with specialised further training in dermatology.

    You would have to train in medicine and then specialize in dermatology to become a dermatologist or train in nursing and do advanced practice postgrad to do dermatology nursing. If you're really interested in it I would definitely look into studying in the UK. I made a big career change and moved to UK to study a healthcare profession and would really recommend it!

    Actually now that I think of it maybe you could research into studying to be an esthetician? I would imagine that having a beauty therapy qualification might be a advantage as they specialize in skin care.
