I don't mind commuting really. Gives you time to have a read, or have some breakfast.

Same as that. Just tie the steering wheel off to the door handle while turning the page and pouring the tea.

About an hour each way. Walk - Luas - walk. Not enjoyable but needs to be done.
Can't read on the Luas either in the morning, far too busy and uncomfortable.

About half an hour door to door on the bus. It's amazing. I used to drive an hour and a half each way. Not having a crappy commute one of the best things on earth!

Down to about eighteen minutes - about thirteen to fourteen of that is running, the rest is waiting at lights.

About 25 minutes. 10 minute walk, 1 stop on the DART, 3 minute walk. Handy enough

Why not walk to work if it's that close?

Getting to sleep for 45 minutes after my food at lunch is priceless

Yeah, but you have to live in a barracks...

The thing that got me, and nobody really mentions it, you really begin to feel exposed and unsafe on the roads doing that much milage, you see so much crap and have so many near misses in short sucession, it really started doing my head in anyway.

That gets me too. I wouldn't mind driving so much if it weren't for all the crazy things people do every day on the road. And I'm no angel myself, I get stressed about people delaying me and try to compensate with speed. I hate public transport but if I could take a train to work I would, at least I wouldn't have that worry. Unfortunately only some are lucky enough to have public transport to work and you have to take your work wherever you can get it.

3 HOURS round trip. Moving much closer to work next year and the office might also be moving closer to my new area so could be cut down to 15 min each way. I have to agree that commuting is a serious waste of life!! Should be able to spend a lot more time with the family then, only really get to see the kiddie winks at the weekend at the moment :(

45 minute walk into town from kimmage area. Used to be about 2 hours from greystones into city centre on the bus.. that stretch of the N11 past bray becomes a funeral procession at rush hour!

20 min drive on country roads. I select sport mode on my car though and wouldn't be sparing the peddle.

    About an hour altogether.

20 min walk. Up at 8.35AM in work for 9AM and then eat a bowl of cereal in work. It is grand.

Some gimmick accounts work (see The Citizen)...and some don't.

Going to college it used to be 2 hours. Starting work in a few weeks and it will be about an hour and forty five minutes....despite being twice the distance.

It's a 25 minute drive, the easiest commute I've ever had or am likely to have. I'm enjoying it while it lasts.

If you cycle to work and get all sweaty, you have to to stay like that all day unless you have a shower is that right?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 591 ✭✭✭sidneykidney

5-6 min walk, depends how awake I am.

I used to cycle to work till I moved and you don't really get that sweaty from cycling in the mornings when its not warm out. During the heat wave though it was rotten and just got the bus.

10 mins max by car if there is heavy traffic. 5 max if little traffic. 15 mins walking at a comfortable pace.
