More farcical scenes at the end of the semi-final today. The County Board will get another windfall due to a ref apparently hell bent on making it a draw game. Apart from the dodgy free, 1 minute of stoppage time was ludicrous, 3+ would have been more realistic.

In fairness it was the only discordant note in what was a pleasantly good-spirited game. If he was really trying to make a draw of it he would have signalled for more than 1 minute which suited Portumna, the team in front at the time. Any details of the replay?

Beagh never really showed up for the opener and Turlough' must be kicking themselves how they couldn't have beaten them in the 1/4s. That said, Loughrea looked good enough to make the final not the foregone conclusion widely thought.

This'll suit Lrea down to the ground

Let Portumna and Thomas' go batin the sh1te out of each other again while they rest up. They'll be written off in the final too most likely

Them two free's Thomas's got at the end were very dodgy. I was standing across from the free given against Canning and I still can't figure out what he was supposed to have done, in fact when the ref blew the whistle I was full sure it was going to be a free in to Portumna as I thought Canning was stopped in his tracks and hauled to the ground. The 1 minute injury time was a pure joke altogether, hardly a surprise though. JC was in good form today.

JC had a great second half, you cant give him any sort of room or he'll kill you with accuracy.

David Burke had a decent game too but wemt looking for frees once or twice when he should have chased his man. Conor Cooney stood out well too.

The ref was alway going to look for any excuse to give the free. It was dodgy alright.

Beagh looked nervous. Loughrea are very efficient. All the Johnny's contributed well.

Canning and Hayes combo in midfield were sensational. Some amount of scores from midfield. It was a great game in fairness and nothing like the group game, both teams concentrated on their hurling and almost dispelled rumours of a massive fall-out. The last free was very dodgy and this is coming from a Thomas' man. I was as far away as possible and saw nothing. I though Eanna Burke was immense again for us. Replay is next Saturday, looking forward to it already.

    3.45 next Saturday in Athenry.

Hard to say, capable of destroying any team on our day, haven't reach last years level yet this year. Yesterday was as close as ive seen all year.

Eanna Burke looks the real deal alright. Exactly the type of hurler thats needed for Galway 2014.

    Where is he in college?

JC and Damien were playing mid? or were both out at the HF line?

Hayes wore the 8 jersey and played there. Canning wore 14 but played as a third midfielder.

moved home recently but played for a junior football club in another county since start of year. Stopped playing for my ‘home’ club (not originally from there) when I was 16 as fellow players were horrible to me. Have moved home again in last few weeks and dying to play for someone next year. My ‘home’ clubs ‘B’ team plays at a pretty high level which would give no chance of progress never mind the fact that the same old faces that drove me out of the club are still around. anyway......

What’s the rule about transferring to another club that’s not my ‘home’ one? It would just be Junior B or C…

Hayes played at centre forward but wandered about,JC played midfield had poor first half (pricked around and didnt seem interested)he had a super 2nd half and scored points from all angles,Damien had a super first half but ran out of steam (understandably)in the 2nd half.replay should be a cracker, ref had good game all through except for last free awarded.Toms to prevail in replay

Canning was good all through; laid on a number of scores for the forwards and pointed a monster free from near his own 65. Never fails to amaze me that people fail to see the influence he exerts throughout a game, even when people think he's quiet.

Unfortunately I'm starting to come of an opinion that St. Toms are a lot of soft fancy-dans who struggle to add up to the sum of their parts. Nothing against them, believe me, and I was in Croker last March shouting for them in the AI final, but for a team laden with their ability, they don't dominate a game in the way you'd expect. James Regan and Bernard Burke were very below par last Sunday I thought, and even David Burke was scarcely more than adequate. For players of their acumen they should drive a game on and shape it to their will. In mitigation though, they've a lot of hurling played in the last 18 months and probably need a rest at this stage.

It was but doesn't matter when you've a PA system from the 60s.

Delighted Corofin hammered Salthill, will be very hard bet from here.

Ian Burke is a class act, and Sice is some warrior! Steede and Farragher are massive additions from last yr!

The potential Connacht final Brigids vs Corofin will be a cracker

How did Burke play? Noticed he didn't score. Thought he would have done some damage considering Corofin were well on top.

I was only listening to it on the radio in bits and pieces, he got on a bit of ball it seemed mightn't have been stand out, it seemed Sice did most of the damage anyway!

It was more a general point, he's a serious prospect and Mulholland should be looking to start him next year!

He'd a great year in the championship alright, if he didn't score credit to Salthill in a way! :o

Not too much wrong with it today. Grand setting and conditions for a game. Bar the club involved, all of whose supporters would usually be gathered around the celebrations anyway, don't think too many would be interested in hearing yet another Corofin victory speech.

As I predicted at the outset, Corofin won this championship at a canter, and they must have taken umbrage at the journos who said their demise last year was the end of an era. As if! They've looked as good as ever this year and have a nice blend of the experienced in Kieran and Mike Comer, Gary Sice, Alan and Damien Burke, Gary Delaney plus a blooded host of newer players. They'll be itching for another crack at St. Brigids who they lost to very contentiously 2 years ago, but there's the little matter of the Mayo champions to be faced (at a home venue) first. Unfortunately for the county team, Corofin's county players, (a bit like St. Thomas's), always seem to save their best for the club rather than the county. Bad indictment of club football in Galway though when a very ordinary outfit like Salthill could reach the final; Corofin's real final was the semi' win over Milltown.

Well done to Moycullen who won their first Minor title since 1966, beating Claregalway in a fairly novel final.

Agreed. I'm really surprised they beat Tuam. Inexperience probably cost james' against them.

Great win for Moycullen they've done nothing really of note in minor recently (often play B) and it's a welcome victory given the state of the senior team. Delighted for them

Cl**nan would be interesting. Can't imagine Fi**erty would bring much bar banging on the table with a hurl and shouting "C'mon lads".

Is the hurling final on sunday week? The hurling board need to get a move on in sorting out the senior management situation as the team have fallen way behind the standard required.
