    Finally got it set up.

Just wondering though. I've set the alarm for the morning, but there's no bell symbol once everything's set. The test button runs through everything I've set perfectly, but no little symbol on the display. Should her be?

Mines the same. Just has a musical note symbol for whatever reason.

Pure rubbish. Mines going back.it feels awful cheep and the instructions are queer hard to follow, I just hope I can find my receipt, you get what you pay for as the other fella said

I disagree. The interface is a bit clunky but in 5 minutes you can get it setup, radio tuned in, alarm set. Does its job as a waking light really well for 1/4 the price of the bigger names.

First time using a sunrise alarm type thing and I thought it was very good. It was nice to wake up to light and I found I got up rather than pressing snooze a couple of times. It filled the room nicely with light The ocean alarm tone I picked was awful though!! Very annoying. The sound from the fm radio is quite good given the small size and plasticyness! Not bad for 30. Can't see what a more expensive version could do that this couldn't for my needs.

Debating taking the plunge on this.
Was looking at the Philips one last year but the cost was a deciding factor against.

I've been using the Sleep Cycle Alarm clock for iOS for over a year now and it's doing the job fine - but finding it SO much harder to get up on these dark mornings now.

Mrs. S used it for the first time this morning, and was pleasantly surprised.

She sets her alarm for 6 to get up then, usually ends up snoozing twice and getting up closer to 6.20. So on her recommendation, I set the new alarm for 6, and the light to come on 5 minutes beforehand.
The light woke her up (as expected), and even though she was awake, she still snoozed once 'cause it was a horrible morning.

So a definite success in the Soarer household.

I think the combination of the two would be great, and would experiment myself but have a 6 week old baby and don't think I enter deep sleep anymore :(

Maybe give it a go and report back?

Even on it's own, waking up with the light already on is so much better :P

Definitely going to give it a go - starting tomorrow night :)

6 week old baby.... oh, the nights of broken sleep. I'm still living with the massive bags under my eyes :)

By pure chance I picked one up in Aldi in Bray today. Had stopped looking for them a few weeks back, was looking at the LED bulbs and found one tucked away under them.

Better than what I was expecting to be honest! LED's do a good job at being a table lamp replacement and being able to dim em down is always welcome... radio sounds good too. yep worth it IMO.

about as useful as an ashtray on a motorbike to me

I sleep on my good ear, am half deaf in the other
takes a lot to wake me anyway, very heavy sleeper

if it were bright all night i'd sleep no bother with the
curtains open anyway so it would be just an expensive
    alarm clock to me

Still wouldnt mind one for that price

for 30 euros it's a very good deal. main fault is the awkward button/menu interface but it's no problem after using it a couple of times.

So..... Last night was up feeding the baby, bleary eyed around 4 am and when I was fiddling with the light I managed to turn on the coloured ones and couldn't turn them off again. Was turning on and off the radio and everything... In the end I plugged the bloody thing out :)

Have to say though, being able to dim the lights for nighttime feeds is great (just need to read the damn instructions again)

Oh and I also managed to set an alarm as well which still went off as the batteries were in. Fright of my life. :D

Hold down the button below the clock face for around 3 seconds. It will still sound same time next day.

    6-7 still left in Clonmel.

For those who bought them, are they worth the money?

Tbh, I was a bit sceptical at first but I wake up now gradually and not suddenly like I used to. I find it great.

Oh btw, does the light change colours? Forgot how to do it if it does, can anyone give me instructions?

After living with it for a few months, my honest answer is - it depends on you.

It's not an exceptionally good magic-wiz-thing that I hoped it would be. It's an average radio, a decent bedside light, a good wake-up / sunrise light etc. But no question that the controls are designed by someone who never used one of these in the past. Try pressing the buttons while you like on the bed - the clock falls over - meaning you need two hands to operate this (which is why most bedside clocks have most of their controls on the top panel - which is a dust magnet, but it's useable- duh!!). And you woke up in the middle of the night and realised you don't want to wake up early, so you want to turn off the alarm - you hav to cycle thru a whole lot of rubbish, sometimes setting off the chime/light etc in the process. Doh!

In short, it's good, it's not bad, but certainty not great.

Yep, my 2.5 year old figured out how to and now the room is a different colour every time I walk into it. You can change it by pressing the middle button on the left side of the LCD panel. Hold it long if you want it to auto-cycle thru colours, if you are feeling adventurous. ;)

There's still a couple in Callan too. I find it great. I'm always awake before the actual alarm goes off as the gradual increase of light wakes me. Makes a nice change from being jolted awake from my alarm! It's also a lot nicer to wake up to the light on these dark mornings. It isn't perfect build quality but it's certainly well worth the price.
