Xmas adds, too early???

Just saw my first Xmas add on ITV2. Its not even halloween!! Saw an Xmas tree in Clinton cards on Sunday.

Is it too early for Xmas stuff and does it annoy you or is Xmas stuff getting earlier and earlier each year?

It's when stores start playing Christmas music just before Halloween that you know it's too soon. I remember working in Dunness years back and hearing Christmas songs being played in the week before Halloween. Was amongst the mist depressing things to face in there, which for stores that treat employees like dirt says a lot. It's a wonder that more shelf packers and checkout staff aren't found hanging in the stock room, as after hearing Don't They Know its Christmas for the 20th time in one day is enough to drive you over the edge. I used to look forward to collecting the trollers outside in the freezing cold as at least I'd be away from the god awful Chrustmas songs for a few minutes.

I'd prefer to wait until December but once Halloween is out of the way then Christmas is fair game. Not before.

I genuinely think they should bring in date, that before which no Christmas advertising can take place - I love Christmas above all other days in the year and I hate having my christmas cheer worn out through diminishing marginal utility before the big day.

What date do you think would be okay to allow ads to begin?

Never bothered me before this year. During the weekend was in M&S with my 4 year old who got quite excited by the Christmas stuff. 10 weeks is a long time for him to wait/me to hear about it.

Spoil is the wrong word.. Its annoying to see these adds in the build up to halloween. Halloween is one of my favourite holidays with the parties and fun around it. See the family all the time so xmas day is more like a regular Sunday with more food and somewhat boring.

First week of December, the beginning of Advent or there abouts. That would never fly with the retailers though.

Bit aggressive there. It does actually affect families in dire financial straights with kids looking for stuff and parents not able to afford it. The sooner the kids see the ads the sooner it starts and more pressure on parents!

If you don't like the thread you don't have to post and you didn't have to post a complaint in here! As previously posted it does wear you down and its the ones in the shops listing to the playlists on repeat that I fee l sorry for.

Agreed - and the retailers can **** right off burning up my christmas cheer because of their greed and cheapening my favourite festive tunes by playing them ad nauseum...this something that needs to be legislated for!
