Can't make comment as wasn't at any if the games but it sounds like both games were poor enough quality. I suppose two big championship games in a week took its toll

A lot of club football can be poor to watch though in fairness!

Danny Kirby superb again, he absolutely has to be given game time in the league could be just what Mayo need in the forwards!
Andrew Keane for Knockmore was more impressive imo. Was excellent against Ballintubber aswell. Just a ity himself and Tom Parsons don't have the quality around them at their respective clubs.

Kirby's been knocking on the door quite a while though and was in the under 21 panel for 4 years

He scored a hattrick in the FBD a few years back

He's not an improvement in the midfield anyway but there could be justification for him getting a place in the forwards I'll admit.

Was at that match, can't remember who we were playing. Remember him being nicknamed 4 goal Kirby!

Yeah he is just the sort of lad we need at centre forward, has the strength to break a tackle and take a score. He was an excellent minor and of course played under 21s.
The lads mentioned as much in the podcast.

Yeah that was a valid point raised alright

I agree with them, mid isn't his best position

I was very impressed with him in Tuam in u21 earlier in the year, himself and Forde were the best two

Hoping it's just one of those outlandish rumours.

Excellent article in today's Sunday Times,an interview with Lee Keegan.Direct quotes "I heard I was going to Australia"," Unless someone's buying me a ticket I'm not going. It's hurtful to hear the stories........".Lee quashes these rumours, very unfair on the lad.
The article goes on to say that they're hoping Donie Buckley will stay on another year,Ed Coghlan's strength and conditioning programmes to prepare them for 2014 were landing in their inboxes three days after the final!
God the lads deserve proper reward for all their efforts, team holiday...not saying the amateur ethos should be torn to shreds by going professional but heck these guys give so much joy to so many people packing grounds like Croker out every summer.
In relation to another matter it's criminal that top class inter county footballers sometimes have to emigrate due to lack of work. What is the GAA if it can't look after those who make such big sacrifices.
    Rant over.

He wasn't superb but he was solid. He's not as good as what we have in mid-field already and I don't see him as a forward either.

The two O'Sheas were very good once they got going and the young lad Liam Irwin looks a very classy forward.

Both games were average enough today but could be all set up for a cracking final.

Moran was out I think (??), hopefully nothing serious!

Ya no idea why Moran didn't play, obviously some injury. Saw him walking around, looked fine. Think they'll need him v the O'Sheas.

Thought Henelly was class again - Mayo number 1 for sure.

Yeah, he played really well. If he could improve his distribution, he'd be a serious player.

I agree. I thought he dominated his area, pulled off a couple of point blank saves, he's authoritative and he'll always chip in with a 45 or two. He did go on one "run", and kicked the ball straight over the sideline as a result, but that's only a very minor blip and I wouldn't be holding it against him.

Think Castlebar have the stronger squad but they were very flat for large parts yesterday. They need to get Richie into the game more and stop playing him on the wings. Big Barry will be a huge loss, pulled a hamstring at training during the week and looks like he will miss the final. Its going to be a very different match to the previous meeting a few months back. That day Castlebar looked like a county team playing an average club team. Have Beaffy improved that much , did castlebar peek to soon? Castlebar's 3rd final in 4 years against a local rival, surely they cant play that bad in a final again.

Anyone know when the Aghamore v Tourmakeady relegation final will be played?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 868 ✭✭✭Gerry91

When's the final on though? Could be time for Barry yet- the provincial semi v Corofin is 10th Nov so no rush with this game surely

At least the winner will be a bit more "battle-hardened" than Corofin! Need any advantage they can get cos it'll be a huge ask and sadly I can only see a Corofin/Brigid's final

Yip I can only see a Corofin St.Brigid's final, hope I'm wrong.Really looking forward to the county final, slagging should be something else.:)

Tough draw in both levels for Mayo. At home to Roscommon which should be worth a few points and at minor level Galway are still due a home game v Mayo.

    Talk about a lopsided 21's draw! :p

And minor!!! Ara we got it in senior 2012 no complaints ;)

Hope we get our act together at under 21 level next year.

Why are we playing Kerry at home for the second year running & Dublin away?

I was wondering the same myself. Wonder will we be playing Kildare in Croker also?

Did I see on FaceTalk that Horan has been confirmed to stay on? Not any "official" sources but a few have it. Anyone else hear?
