Was looking at the 32" version of this which is €399.99 with Argos but Powercity also have it in stock for €449 with a 5 year warranty from Sony.
Does anyone know if purchasing it in Argos would also qualify for the extended warranty? i.e. is the warranty specific to this TV or the seller?

    It's a 50hz set,where are you getting the 100hz spec from....

From Sony Tier 3 Technical support is where I am getting it from.
Although I did mention in my post above it's 100hz (or possibly 50hz).

I assume you are getting the 50hz spec from the test HDTVTest.co.uk ran and reported 300 lines of motion.

i work in argos, in the stock room
we get a big delievery every friday which mostly is tv's ( any other large items ) but
cant speak for every other argos but
last friday we got the 2nd tv mentioned in the OP only twice ( out of 28 tvs delievered that morning ), and it sold out later on that day , think it only took 3 hours to sell out. Tvs go quite fast in argos, as their good quality, and normally always have a discount on them, not sure if they all come with warrentys, il can check though, they should come with at least a year, isnt their some law on that?

i work in the illac one in dublin , so if your looking for this particular model i'd suggest getting in early, as its quite cheap and in my opinion one of the better tvs in the store, specially for its price :)

you could also try the jervis one, i think they have big delieveries on fridays/saturdays as well

coming closer to xmas their will most like be alot more stock for all tvs anyway cause they sell like hotcakes:pac:

When I talk about panels it's a 50 hz panel....the 100-200-2500000hz rate sony are telling you is a process rate which is a marketing plot done by every manufacturer which is a real shame as customers are still buying into

There's a chance I won't be using my reservation code for Mahon Point. Can't justify it.
I've offered it to the lads in the office, and I'm waiting to hear back from them. So if nobody wants it here, it'll be up for grabs.

Don't mind it, they only say valid until (insert date) to boost up sales to make it sell quicker, sometimes they will put the price back up to normal, but a week later they will drop it again, its all about sales mate. With christmas getting closer theirs only going to be more and more sales, this week it might be the OP's tvs that are on sale, but next week it could be a 50/60inch smart HD tv on sale.
Its all about getting in their first to buy it, because we could get 20 tvs on 1 delievery, but all 20 could be different, so theirs never enough for everyone on the sales of items, its the reason they sell so fast,
but like i said big deliveries are on fridays , and saturdays coming closer to christmas(no sat deliveries yet but in novemeber they start I think)
so make sure you guys, for what ever you are buying in Argos, keep an eye out for something you want on sale or whatever for friday afternoon/saturday mornings, because it takes us the whole morning and sometimes afternoon to put away all the fresh stock so it would'nt be up on the system until friday afternoon or saturday morning.
