Hardship payments to Irish emigrants in UK?

Apologies if this isn't the right place.

I have a few elderly relatives in England and I have heard of payment the government makes, that may or may not be referred to as hardship payments, to people who emigrated to England and are now (roughly) of retirement age.

It doesn't seem that this is advertised anywhere, that I can find, but perhaps I have the name wrong. Tried a lot of different searches.

Hopefully someone here will have heard something and that I have given enough information.

I think you might be talking about the Emigrant Support Programme. Funding is given to organisations rather than individuals.
It might be worthwhile contacting organisations such as the Aisling Project or The London Irish centre.

Thanks very much, exactly what I was looking for.

Lots of people in their situation are fiercely independent, having left home and family, as children in some cases and they can be very slow to accept a bit of help from family in their golden years to make help them enjoy their retirement after working all their lives.

Might be something at least for them.

Very much appreciated.

Many of these people have been absolutely lifelines for generations of their families who followed them over, setting them up. Never emigrated myself... yet... but doing it now is nothing compared to what it was even 20-25 years ago.
