Why is Channel 4 HD not on the Sky EPG?

Given that Sky have C4 in SD (i.e. no rights issues, I assume) and now have Film 4 in HD, how come C4 is not also in HD ? Very strange.

I think its because the do not have a HD version with Irish advertising. They make money from showing SD Channel 4 with ROI ads.

Irish version is also encrypted, with allowance to block some programmes due to rights issues. Don't know if they block many programmes anymore though but the option is there.

On my Sky atm Channel 4 is giving a message "This programme is not available". I haven't seen this with C4 before today

Still happening so. Shame as the PQ on C4 HD is very nice.

I don't usually watch C4 much unless there's a good documentary on it so I probably missed it up until now.

If you have Ch4 added to your ''other channels'' list, it bypasses the blocked programme issue. I'm assuming those versions tuned in manually are UK variants of the channel.

That would be correct, as is the HD variant

Cheers for that; forgot all about mentioning the HD channel as well. The perils of getting old!

Thank you. I added Ch4 to Other channels and it works.

Glad to be of service. Pity they can't be recorded off that route, but hey ho. Better than a blank blue screen, I suppose.
