Is the adaptor mentioned above an ac adaptor? so one doesn't have to use batteries. i assume so

Yes, it's a normal adaptor for power. The batteries are for backup power only.

I got one this morning and I have it all set up, I'm almost looking forward to waking up tomorrow :D

+1, and not to mention Aldi's 3 year warranty. As soon as you take it out of the box, put the receipt in a small plastic sleeve and tape it to the bottom of this yoke. 3 years warranty assured.

That's a great idea, I must remember to do that the next time I buy something in Aldi or Lidl.

I have taken to taking a photo and emailing it to myself or putting it on evernote with the subject line the Aldi "item"
Came in very handy recently when I had to return their halogen oven but they were being dip****s at first saying I need the warranty card that came with the booklet. Tools

Thanks OP got one this morning. Couldn't find them at first but saw it in that glass case where they keep hard drives, cameras and other electronics. So had to ask till staff for one. This was in Sandyford branch, may be different elsewhere.

How right is it compared to say a 40w bedside lamp?

I wouldn't say it was less bright but it's difficult to tell in the daylight. I reckon you could easily read by it.

The bulbs are LEDs and they are noted for being powerful little things!

Very cool so far. I'll be interested to see if its any use in he morning!

Was extremely cool before trying to preset stations - would only occupy the 1st preset and then couldn't turn off the radio either. Factory reset/removing power cord bricked it - now counts the minutes (and presumably hours) elapsing between resets and the LCD display can be dimmed or turned off, nothing else.

Should be said - there's no "bee sound" alarm option for any masochists, but plenty of waterboarding wakey wakeys to get your pulses racing first thing!

Rakes in Mayfield at about 2 o'clock.

Walked passed them the first time. Don't know what I was expecting, but they're in small black boxes.

I didn't see them, was up there about 4.00pm. When I enquired about them, they didn't think they even got them in:confused: How small are the boxes and where were they?

Hard to explain. You know where the glass case is that holds the DVD players and stuff? On the aisle behind that. They were tucked away next to some lava lamps.
The boxes weren't the size of an adult shoebox.

Supposed to be pretty good, but normally you have to pay around €100 for the privilege of finding out.
Worst case it gets used as a reading light, radio, and alarm clock....with a 3 year warranty!

I didn't see that these were on sale until this evening. I'm really hoping there's one left in the Aldi on Santry Avenue tomorrow morning. I'm trying to judge if I can get there before college because I'd love to get my hands on one.

I got one in Nutgrove yesterday morning, it was smaller than I expected but that's not a bad thing.
Nobody else seemed interested, there was only one gone but I had to fight my way past the early grabbers at the other stuff to get one.
Light worked well this morning, the radio is surprisingly good and loud.
My only problem now is I have to get up earlier than the missus and she's not a fan of light or noise in the morning.

I got one of these yesterday morning. It's the right size, pretty nicely made, great as a reading bedside lamp as well, and the brightness of the light can set in a scale of 1 to 18, which is neat.

There are issues too - the buttons are not exactly premium quality to touch. The radio reception / audio quality is just meh. Yet to figure out if it has preset memory thingees. The LCD panel brightness adjustment is lacking.

And I was all set to be impressed by this light this morning, to wake up naturally and fully refreshed and what not at 7:30 am. But my daughter woke my up around 7. And 6:40 before that. And at 5:30. And 5. And 4...... Ah well, I ended up lying there watching the light come on, increase in brightness and finally the chime, explain it all with a step by step / running commentary of the whole thing to the over-excited early bird 2.5 year old who is now a huge fan of this yoke. Clock is a keeper... but I so really wish children came with a snooze button on their forehead....

Got the last one in Mulhuddart yesterday evening. I went in just before closing (on my way home to Cavan) and the only one they had left was the one in the display case. I didnt get a chance to set it yet though. Hopefully will give it a try in the morning.

Well, it was really nice actually. I felt myself dreaming and slowly becoming more and more awake, yet I wasn't fully with it. Then I heard the chirping of birds and realised what was happening and boom I was awake. Will have to see how I fair over the coming week but so far so good.

Is there a Mrs. Strainor? Was she annoyed or anything?
