+1, and not to mention Aldi's 3 year warranty. As soon as you take it out of the box, put the receipt in a small plastic sleeve and tape it to the bottom of this yoke. 3 years warranty assured.

I have always wanted to try one of these, but was put off by the price. But with the month back guarentee and the warranty I think i might have to go for it!

That's what Phillips would love you to believe.

Many electronic goods in aldi are actually well known electronic names with some fictional name attached.

I bought aa hedge trimmer once, and below the fictional name tag stick to it was......... 'makita'
It was three times cheaper than the makita model in the hardware shop.
I kid you not.

I do shift work, and spend a lot of my time getting up in complete darkness during the winter.

On the face of it, these seem like a great idea.

But does your head not get wrecked having been woken up in "daylight" and then you go out and actually it's still pitch dark

I have a Philips one that I paid over €100 for and I have to disagree. There's nothing special about the Philips one - it does what it says it'll do but I've always felt it was one of the most over priced things I ever bought. If I was in the market for another one I'd be outside Aldi at 10am on Sunday

This is something I've wondered about too - wake up nice and naturally and then turn on rest of the lights, and it's freezing and the the car / bike is all frozen and it's all down hill from then on...

It doesn't shock you awake with daylight. At the given time, the alarm/sound starts playing and the light comes on at maybe the equivalent of a 1 watt bulb. Then every 10 seconds or so, the brightness increases by 1 watt.
You should be naturally awake before the bulb gets to full brightness.

Yeah, I like it - it just wakes you up more gently and slowly - I'm usually half awake from the light before the alarm goes off which makes it a bit easier to get out of bed.

Think theres ones now that you hook up to yer scalp and it wakes you according to your brain waves..but ya lidl warrenties are mint and NEVER any questions asked.

Main question is how many lumens light output, batteries and adapters screams 'not many' to me.

Yeah appswise I find Sleep Cycle to be pretty good. I'd imagine that's similar. Its pretty spot on when it comes to sleep quality I find; you'd notice the difference in yourself getting 60% versus 80%.

Nonetheless I'm very interested in this - do these normally sell quickly? Might be out on Saturday night thus wouldn't be enthused to be queuing at 10am Sunday morning!

I think that since I can (and frequently do) sleep in direct bright sunlight, on second thoughts I think I'll give this a miss.

I suspect I'd be immune to it inside a week.

(plus, I'll also be on the beer tonight, and can't see me being anywhere - sunlit or otherwise - except a bed, at 10am tomorrow morning

I shave my head, would you believe I have bought 3 philips head shavers in the past and within a few months of buying each one they fell apart (all around €50 each), Philips or Boots would not entertain me. I bought one in Aldi about 2yrs ago, still works perfect to this day

My Philips one died earlier this year so I'm up early tomorrow to get one of these. Can't believe my luck that aldi are doing one tbh, I was dreading heading into the dark winter with no light on when I wake. I find it impossible to wake up in the dark and these really help take some of the pain away.
On the Philips one you can set the max brightness it will come on at so that helps with those light sleeping partners

The light gradually brightens too so I'd say a combination of the app and the light would make for a much more pleasant waking experience

God I hate mornings...

lol, the video on that Sonic Bomb site is hilarious - I can imagine it shaking the whole bed, or throwing itself around like a fish out of water... LOL.

On a serious note, I really envy people who can sleep so deep that they don't wake up to normal alarms. That's just amazing. Since our err "cubs" have come along, I haven't slept more than 3 hours in a stretch. And toddlers are very accurate and seriously persistent on waking you up earlier than you had planned.

A user there have already bought this as it went on sale in Aldi Germany couple of days ago, and said this:

so far it seems fine - not with the faults of the cheap Amazon ones !

well the light woke me up well before the alarm was due to go off.

It's not a bright as say a bedside light with say 60w bulb - but it will quite easily illuminate the bedroom.

also good to let your eyes get used to like before you get out of bed

and did not notice any flickering - yes you notice each set ramp up of light but it's not unpleasant

and yes you can wake up to the radio, but the light starts first at the pre-determined time before the alarm

Further down the thread there's a link to German version of a thread on the same item, and in there someone posted this (translated):

The alarm clock can not distinguish between weekday and weekend ... And that's more important than you think when purchasing.

Took some explaining when his flat got broken into and the guards saw it on an extension lead by the bed
