Battling to resist temptation - must resist, I must resist :D:D:D.

Autobox and 1.9 tdi combination is off putting - don't think the 1.9 tdi has the refinement to work with an auto box.

Still very tempting though if the actual cars condition in the flesh is as nice as the pictures suggest.

On balance though - I will sit that one out :(.

Think this :D:D:D is far more appropriate to your comment then .

Be delighted that everyone in Ireland is sprinting towards new 70 mpg and 10 euro to tax diesels.

Frees up the nice older bangernomics stuff ;)

I was all ready to pull the trigger on that till herself said 'no way' Then the cheeky bugger actually put the price up. He originally advertised it at 1350.

Anyway, I'm kinda glad I didn't/still haven't. It would be only a matter of time before you'd hear a gearbox eating itself, a multitude of lights appear on the dash or something falls off that falls off all of them and can't be got spurious or in the scrappy.

Still the best 5 ever. Makes the later ones look terribly dated and out of kilter with modern style. Really says something about its design that's its actually stood the test of time far better than its replacement. This is still elegant and contemporary, the later one is vulgar, brash and attention seeking just for the sake of it. Apart from that though, its also got one of the worst rides of any car ever. Again its predecessor completely trounces it.

What gtv's have you been in?
Ive been in one that has 140,000 miles and it feels like new on the inside.

Id buy it in a flash if i could justify 2 weekend cars:mad:

And if it was a 3L

In honesty, not many. WhatI have seen though, largely through no fault of the car but more to do with shoe string budget dreamer owners, is a lot of fcuked ones.

I'm not gonna get into an Alfa bashing argument. Im fully aware how good a minded one can be. Its just that most of them were not minded in their latter years and that by and large means theyre wanked.

Oh i definitely agree. But any car of that age that isnt minded is going to be wanked.

That one however looks to be in serious good condition.
For every 10 **** heaps that sell for under 2k there'll be 1 good one.

Coincidently the 140k gtv (needed some minor mechanical work and I mean minor) was bought for less than 400 quid.

Every so often a good one pops up. Of the 6 that are currently for sale on done deal, this would be the first one id be going to have a look at

This looks like a nice banger? How reliable are the 2,0L v6 in these compared to other mazda engines?

Have never figured out the love from Irish car buyers for the E60 5 series - particularly the 520d - the decision to run with run flats was ill judged from BMWs viewpoint.

E39 - definitely a more attractive car - and definitely BMW lost ground with the E60.

Twas like they said - okay look - we will let Jaguar have a chance with the S type :D:D

'I can have a Beemer with only €156 tax? (at the time of course) Jaysus can't turn that down now..'

Or something to that effect. :pac:

I say - if that's really genuinely is as nice in the flesh as it appears in that add - why would you want to buy a new 132 version of the 6 for 35 grand.

Or maybe its just me - the sweet shop that is this tread just keeps on giving :D:D

That's as long as they expected the engine to last?

Like old fords ;) - so of course it could be 132,000 easily enough.

If it drives well though and is in good condition - it could still be an okay runabout.

Would I be right in assuming they aren't the nicest things to drive (especially if no power steering - which is likely the case). Or are they not as bad as I imagine them to be.

Not thinking of buying one (Pandas on my radar right now) but just curious
