Two televisions not getting along

    Hello all,

    Since the saorview came in our two televisions haven't been getting along. The TV we normally watch is fine normally. However once we turn the other television on at the same time, the terrestrial channels on our main TV go very jumpy and blurry. Has anybody come across this problem before and how did you resolve it. I'm guessing it's something to do with the cable in the attic?

    Maybe the signal from the aerial is too weak to feed both TVs, OK for 1 TV?

    What type of aerial are you using, roof mounted or attic?
    How is the signal split to the 2 TVs?
    Is there any amplifer in the attic?

    That is rubbish. When a second TV is turned it does not suddenly suck out half the aerial signal.

    Possibly the second TV is generating interference that is going back up the coax cable and hence to the second TV. Assuming both TVs are fed via a splitter that is. A good quality splitter is designed not to pass interference from one outlet to the other so if this is the case a better splitter would be the answer. A metal case F type would fit the bill.

    What's the make & model of the 'other' tv? Does it have a box connected for Saorview and/or satellite?

    Some power supplies cause a lot of interference, even in standby but particularly when the device they are powering is switched on.

    Hey everyone,

    Thanks for the replies so far. They are both Samsung TV's. When I plug out the aerial leading from new TV to attic the main TV is fine. Could that mean that it'd be the splitter that's the problem as Winston said. We don't have an amplifier in the attic.

    Yep I'm usong the same Y splitter that you linked in your post. Would I be better off using the metal splitter?

    Yes those plastic y splitters are cheap rubbish i would recommend a metal f type splitter which are far more reliable.
