Converse may look pretty, but they're **** for walking on the cobblestones in Temple Bar :pac:
They kill your feet alright if you wear them regularly, have no grip on wet surfaces, at all, but they look cool, I'm officially middle-aged now:( I hate you 40, I hate you:mad:

Bought a pair of Docs when there was the really bad weather two years ago so I could get in and out of school without falling, still have and love them. When I did my ankle in I was told to wear them when I was taken out of the cast for support.

I haven't been without a pair of Docs in over three decades. I now wear Doc shoes as my everyday work shoes.

I haven't actually had converse in years, they really do f*ck up your feet. A nice pair of chunky DCs is my preferred runner these days, although Docs are my weapon of choice.

The thing about middle age is to not give a sh*t about it. Grow old, but never grow up :pac:

I got my first pair when I was 15 and my dad went mad saying "no daughter of mine is wearing workman's boots" so had to hide them in the garage and sneak out in them. I had purple laces.

Wore them intermittently for years now but found a lovely Doc style flowery pair in Dunnes last March and have been wearing them since. They are starting to fall apart but thats no shocker coz am very hard on shoes with my slightly gammy feet. Was online all morning trying to find a nice replacement pair.

I need more docs coz have 15 pairs of converse but its time I grew up a little and wore something else.

What about them?? Love them :)

The daughter loves her Docs, she's currently rocking steel toe capped purple patents she found for $20 in a thrift shop over here.

Me. I'm a army surplus kinda boot guy, but I'm lusting over these bad boys.

    Their linesmen's boots are incredible.

Doc Martens and New Rocks are horrible looking things. Adidas Originals are where it's at.

They look cute on young girls, not such a good look on middle aged men, that screams mid-life crisis on a guy over 20 tbh! Jesus time creeps up fast, I'm 37 in a months time :(

I'm off to get myself a pair of boot runners with the tongue pumps! Anyone else remember those? :D

Boots are for hippies and tradesmen. Runners are where it's at or a nice pair of Oxford brogues for work purposes.

Nonsense. They're aimed at the 20-30 demographic, sure. Don't think I've ever seen a young girl wearing a pair of Adidas Campus.

And team them up with a metrosexual "man bag" and skinny jeans while you're at it and all... Jaysus :(

I admit to owning a pair of these, but I do have the hat to match, and ride horses in the desert.

Ahh here, seriously? Loads of girls 16 - 25, regular students, you'll see them all with the campus and snapbacks, shorts over the tights or a frock.

Grown men in their 20's and 30's still trying to look "with it" wear sketchers!

Us bikers can generally out-boot anyone, even the Ugg crowd. I currently am the proprietor of a pair of these:

Where are you living because I'm not seeing this? I've never seen a grown man wearing Sketchers. I've seen the young wans wearing cons, but never really Adidas Gazelles or Campus. Any young wans here to enlighten us?

Runners are for children and skangers. I agree with you on the Oxfords, and would add that Builder's Boots are the attire of choice for grown men when Real Work(TM) needs to be done, such as kicking the sh!t out of hippies! :D

    Fugly as f*ck.
At least my boots would look as at home on a bar rail as they would a horse. :D

Mind, if you are over 40 and don't own a pair of shoes handmade in Northampton, you are doing it wrong.

I have a bit of a fetish for good shoes; these are sublime and my pair of Monks are possibly the most wonderful things I own of a foot related nature.
