Stopped wearing them myself once the quality went. Waste of money now (for quality that is, fashion each to their own).

I tend now to get the "Doc Marten Style" boots online, means that I have the look of a pair of Doc Martens, the same quality of a pair but for half nothing. That way I am not forking out €100+ for boots that are poor quality.

Go down to the local tradesmen suppliers and get a good pair of work boots with anti-static soles, steel toe caps/heel caps and sole plates, watertight and often resistant to chemical burns. A proper boot not a fashion accessory masquerading as a boot.

Oh I have my boots well sorted, tend to get 2 years out of a pair now and I only have one pair at a time.
It's a pity about the Docs though because they were brilliant. Hardwearing, looked good and bouncy bouncy. :)

Well thank God they've made it back onto the list of approved footwear. I wouldn't be seen dead in anything that some other random gobshítes didn't approve of. lol, humans

I alternate between the industrial docs and the standard steel toe ten hole jobs. Usually get four or five years out of a pair.

I loved my docs back in the day. I had loads of black pairs, and I had ox blood ones, and purple ones too!

I might buy a pair, now that they're back in like :P

    Fashion victim

    :p

To be sure. I remember when the young wans started wearing those things some years ago, thinking to myself "Inuit sealskin boots?? Right - that's me done trying to fathom girls and fashion!" :D

I'm wearing a pair right now.

These bad boys. Or close to.

I have been dubbin-ing them monthly for the last 3 years and they are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn.

    so...in conclusion..DMs rule!

I like uggs, purely for heat and comfort. The fake ones look awful though, the "real" ones hold their shape. If you see someone wearing a pair and they're bent at the sole like this - then they are cheap imitations. I've a pair of these and I love them so so much. Money well spent, they're still like new despite wearing them constantly throughout winter. Even wore them to Electric Picnic. So comfy!

I love my work boots, they make me feel invincible, I can go around kicking things without a care in the world. Take that timber door, bam! Take that stone wall, bam! Come across someone that's locked their keys in their car, take that car window, bam!

Wore a pair for 6 months as work boots (bouncer). What a load of sh!te, not comfortable, not durable and overall a bad product.

You were obviously doing it wrong. I wear doc shoes every day to work. Wore 10 and 14 home boots for years. Most comfortable durable shoe ever.

Doc Boots were fine. I had a few pairs of 10 hole in my time.

Doc shoes just weren't cool though.

I got my first pair when I was 15 and my dad went mad saying "no daughter of mine is wearing workman's boots" so had to hide them in the garage and sneak out in them. I had purple laces.

Wore them intermittently for years now but found a lovely Doc style flowery pair in Dunnes last March and have been wearing them since. They are starting to fall apart but thats no shocker coz am very hard on shoes with my slightly gammy feet. Was online all morning trying to find a nice replacement pair.

I need more docs coz have 15 pairs of converse but its time I grew up a little and wore something else.

I bought a pair of black 12 holes 2 christmas's ago and all my friends laughed at me. oh how the laugh is on the other side of their face now!

As a Doc Martin wearer 40% of my every week for years. I shudder when they come "back in"

Maybe you bought them for the wrong reasons.

No but they were soooo comfy, I had them as school shoes.

I was never one of the cool kids!

My grandad bought all of our shoes when we were kids, my parents couldn't have afforded docs at all at all.

I feel all nostalgic now. I remember how a new pair of DM's would rip the heels off you. No matter how much padding I put on the back of my heels there'd still be blood patches on the leather from where they'd torn my heels. You had to break them in. Then I moved on to caterpillar ladies boots, then high heels. Now it's boring Reiker footwear for me. I feel old now:(

Just seen a pic there, I had an idea what they looked like but jesus..those really are awful.
Almost as bad as that Converse shíte!

Oh wow, I remember when people counted the holes. As a kid in the 80's, getting kicked by a pair of 24 hole dock martens would apparently hurt more than 16 hole dock martens. As if it was some measure of power. lol, I miss the 80's... I could go into town as a 8 year old and buy ninja stars and a rambo knife. So much fun. :D

Our mother used bring the six of us down to some shop in Kilkenny and she'd kit us all out with "school shoes" for the coming year, then the uniforms in Shaws, we looked like the frickin' Gestapo all piling out of the van in front of the school gates every September! :o

Would beg to differ, I wouldn't buy them to be cool, but there is a huge range, and whats cool to one person...................
