Just shy of 140,000km. The Cam Followers are a known weak spot in the FSI though. Guys in the states having to replace them almost every 30k miles, which is insane.

    Like so:

50 quid for what amounts to an oversized thimble. FFS.
Frankly thats absurd and that engine and car should be slated for it. Its no better than its 4pot high boost peer from Mazda (the MPS 2.3 engines) which $hits itself if it doesnt get 6k mile oil changes. So many steps backwards have been made in reliability thanks to the endless chasing of MPG and CO2.

PS: 140k KM / 86k miles is not considered "high mileage" for about 30years, back when engines had actual rebuild schedules.

My car has 188k km on it, would not consider that high miles (or high km) for a 7 year old diesel.

It's not just mpg and co2 but the bottom line cost per unit too. It probably saved vw 50c per car to use those instead of higher quality ones. :(

Lads, anyone know what Ford call this colour or what the paint code is?

I'm nearly sure it's aqua marine blue. I've seen a focus a similar colour and that's what it was.

Wait: http://fordpaintcodes.wikidot.com/ford-mondeo-2000-2007 have a look there. Might be useful if you have access to the vin.

Just after finding out some gobsh*te has hit my bumper and scraped it along the bump strip. Got the end of the bumper too and the paint is scratched to fook. Fairly irritating to say the least..... If only I copped it yesterday I have an idea how it happened

Still at least it happened before the planned respray of the car so not all lost!

Some adds are so stupid. The may px for a jdm car gt tdi bit would worry me good chance he's driven the sh!t out of the van. Anyway better of to avoid idiots like this and keep searching. As for him saying the van is perfect and doesn't need to be checked out that's for the buyer to decide not him.

So, finally, after 2 hours of phonecalls to different people, a lovely woman from the north may have saved the day insurance wise. She is calling me back tomorrow, so perhaps we (in the correct vehicle) are back on for the meet afterall!

Car now VRTed for €745, Have the plates now. Just rang my insurance who told me the car needs a valid NCT or they cant transfer over insurance, I explained I cant get an NCT until its taxed and in order to tax it I need to have an insurance policy, nice woman checked with manager and said I have one month to get my NCT but if in an accident with no NCT they will not cover. Only 92c more on the policey.

So after 24hrs my car will be on the tax system, the voyage is almost over.

2.2s have a chain, if it's a 2 litre may I ask why you are even contemplating one?

You don't need tax to nct a car. ;)

You don't, but you can't book a car for NCT until it appears on the tax system, which takes minimum 24 hours.

Had the same issue when I imported mine.

I was thinking the same thing. I know 3 people who had Mazda 6 2.0 and the engines failed in every single one its hard to even believe.

+1 Also same applies vice versa plus you don't need insurance to tax it either.

With your luck I really, really wouldn't bother. Seriously, you're just asking for trouble doing that. A friend of mine has one and he's spent a bit on preventative maintenance and is still selling it while the goings good.

2.2s are a lot better, particularly the later ones as they changed them again.

Chains give trouble on the earlier ones so they're deffo out. I lift the bonnet once a week so thought I'd spot the oil level rising on the 2L
