Keep going I know it is really difficult. What I did after the 1st week is put the money I saved into a jar. I did that every week for 3 months. It is an incentive when you see the money building up. Im almost 2 yrs off them now.

9 weeks free of smoking I've got 600 yoyos (at least) more than I would have, and 16 pounds less (around my waist generally).

    No complaints.

Do you guys save up the money that you would have spent on cigs?

So far I have yes but its only 5 days!

Its a bit of a pain taking cash out of machine to put in jar at home...but for these first few days it helps. Its a visual reminder!

5 days is awesome, well done. You have came through some hard days, go you :D.

You have a few hard days to go so use this foundation to build on. Every day you stay smoke free, is the the day you are closer to being free.

I am 6 weeks off and cravings have all bit stopped now. I went from thinking about fags all the time to hardly ever. It wasn't easy but it most certainly is doable. I am only 5 short weeks ahead of you. ;)

I'm almost 4 days off the smokes (was smoking about 10 rollies a day, smoking between 10-20 rollies/cigs per day for the past 20yrs).

I'm using the e cigs to take the edge off.

I'm actually amazed that I'm off them, it's not been easy but I think it's gotten a tiny bit better every day.

Looking forward to when I won't be thinking about smoking all day!

I know this is weird but my mouth tastes really different already (in a good way) and the stain is gone off my fingers already too.

week 6 off them for me.

after years of trying and going back on them this time feels different..smoked 40 a day..smoking was everything to me..soon as i got up i boiled the kettle and went out for a smoke..then made coffee and had another fag..one on the way to work..one when i got to work and so on and on during the day..i tried everything over the years..patches/gum ect ect..

i know a few people who tried the e-cig and are off them a few months/year ect..so one monday i got up and drove to town and bought one..and hear i am..during work i dont think about the e-cig to much to take a drag..but the evenings i am giving it welly lol!!..

ive managed to go out on te beer twice and both times happily stood out with my smoking mates and used my e-cig while they puffed away on fags..that for me is a massive step and has gave me a big mental edge in kicking the fags.

next step will be to pack in the e-cig,but it will be a bit down the line.

if i can get to this stage believe me anyone can..because i honestly believed i was hooked for life on fags.

good luck to all on their quest to kick the infliction that is fags, but it can be done.

Drink cold water when the longing hits you. Best of luck.

Fifth day off them, serious appetite increase! I'm not over eating but definitely have the munchies.

Went for a run last night for first time since Jan and it definitely seemed a bit easier on me than trying to do it while regularly smoking. Will keep up daily exercise, at least to fight off the extra calories I might end up consuming.

Now 3 weeks off the smokes, I went for a few ( a lot ) of beers last night and I was not even tempted to have a cig, had my ecig with me and I was happy with that

Nice one! The first night of drinking is the first BIG Milestone!

Im 12 weeks off them in the morning. The best I have ever done! It would be so hard to have to start at day 1 again. I reckon if I smoked one now it would taste horrible and make me feel ill  ..... Yes it definitly would! :D

    Fair play.

I'm now nearly 11 days off them. Haven't had a night out but have had a glass of wine at home and it's been fine.

I'm at the point where I'm too scared to even think about "having just one" as I would be so annoyed with myself and back on them.

My mouth has become really sore, like some ulcers developing, I've heard this can be a side affect of quitting - something about the blood circulation returning to your mouth and tongue.

    Entered my 8th week today.

Am certainly over the worst of it. Only have passing thoughts of them now and they are brief. It seems like a long time ago I thought of them every second. Complacency I feel, is my only enemy now.

    700 days today!

Ok so quit yesterday and finding it very hard. Was smoking about 15 a day for the last 15 years and have never attempted to quit before. I used the e-cig yesterday just to take the edge off.
All I can think about is smoking at the moment (feels like every few minutes!), and I have constant conversations in my head about how easy it is just to keep smoking.
Reading all these posts has encouraged me to continue, and hopefully in time Ill be one of the ones coming back to proudly say how long im off them. (I Just wish I was there already!!!)

I was the same. the first while is the worst but it gets easier! Try drinking a glass of water when you get a craving, by the time you do the craving will be gone! Stay Strong!

What is happening is perfectly natural. We've all been there. Set each hour as a goal, every day as a bigger goal. When i quit, 3 days was my biggest target. Get there and keep going. Every hour you stay clean is a hour closer you are to being free. In no time, (and I really mean that) fags will just be an ugly memory.

First of all I want to express my admirations for all those who decided to do this essential step in their life. I quit smoking before 3 years (I was a smoker for 7 years). I feel great and satisfied that I succeeded. At first I felt that almost I was going to die without cigarettes, after a couple of months everything got better. I just wanted to wish you luck, to all of you, do not give up!

Hi all, I reached the 8th month of being smoke free yesterday!!
I feel really good about myself and when I see someone smoking I almost have a sense of relief that I don't HAVE TO SMOKE ANYMORE! People have asked me if it bothers me now when I go for a drink, and it actually doesn't, I am happier now not having to leave the people I'm with and somtimes in the middle of a conversation, and now that the winter is here it will be nicer inside.

So I've run out of filter/cartomisers for my e cig and waiting on a delivery that may still not have arrived to the house today. Can't get out to the places that sell them.

It's times like this I wish I had just given up cold turkey rather than thinking about the alternatives to the e cig!

You could go to a garage and buy a disposable if you are really stuck. What type of e-cig do you use?

Ok so I have made it to day 5. That was my first big goal so very happy. Still finding the evenings very hard though. Its tough just watching TV and trying to not think about smoking - so much so that I find im just going to bed early to avoid sitting there. Hopefully that will go next week. I have gone walking in the evenings as well and thats helped.

Going to a show and dinner/drinks tonight so thats the first test - although its all non-smokers this evening so that might make it a bit easier.

Im sad to say that im kind of dreading the long weekend ( never said that before!) In work its been fine but 3 days at home?? Think Ill just try and get out walking etc as much as can.
