    Who is this ****?

Well that was left field, I'm agreeing with one of his points.

Just because some people are thick doesn't mean the rest of us didn't know how to vote. These callers shouldn't think they speak for another person.

    Tommy voted for the nose.
In the next election he'll vote for the eyes.

And for what it's worth shouting Thomas.

You DO need to provide identification if you are asked to do so.

This man is the reason not everyone should be given a vote

There should be a sanity/presence-of-brains test before being sent a polling card

This denigration of the no vote is really starting to annoy me. I and a vast majority of my friends voted no solely on the issue of the Seanad. I've heard FG people bring this up several times now, and unfortunately this idiot has just partially proved their point. Really some people are just too stupid to be allowed to vote.

The ballot paper in the next referendum for some of these callers:

Mark X if you are insane _

Mark X if you drink first thing in the morning _

The caller initially, but now I think of it......

Sensible caller alert now, she won't last.

I dont agree with people giving out to the people working in the polling offices (although I wonder who they know to get those roles) its not their fault, same with the front line bankers.

That's what I'm agreeing with him about. Take a look across the web and you'll see a lot of people voted no just as a kick to the government without putting any thought into what they actual issue was, pretty sad.

I agree that the polling cards were confusing - I predicted lots of unintentional votes opposite to what people intended beforehand - I'd love to hear how many people voted yes when actually they meant no and vice versa.

Also, I'm in the whole of my health, with very good eyesight, and I had to squint to figure out the small print on the voting sheet...... there has to be a better way of doing it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,886 ✭✭✭✭Roger_007

If this is representative of the "the most sophisticated electorate in the world", I would hate to think what the rest of the world is like.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,299 ✭✭✭Floppybits

Jaysus I cant believe people were confused by what was written on the ballot papers, imagine what it would be like if we had electronic voting "Joe I couldnt see the screen", "Joe I cant use computers" :)

Todays Livelive really puts to bed the myth that Ireland has the most sophisticated electorate in the western world.

Am I the only person in Ireland who DOES have a Seanad vote

We should give electronic voting a try.
