how much per acre for poor land

I have offered 2000 euro per acre for poor land in west of Ireland.this was rejected as apparently a ridiculous offer.is this really far off the mark for poor land?

I would imagine that the land at worst is suitable for forestry so 3500... 5000 per acre. This would depend on the how many acres. 10 would be the minimum for a comerical planted plot but 20 would be the recommended. Small plots of farm land tend to make more than large so there again 4000 + would be expected. After that local demand is a big driver. The seller will have based his expectations on all these variables but unless he is desperate for a sale I guess €4000 would be a bottom line.

2000 sounds a bit on the low side. Have a look at the prices on Daft to get some idea.

Colite are only offering a bit over €2000/acre and thats for a big stretch of land they don`t want to know about small lots anymore.

Fair enough. 4000 an acre is more than I can afford for that 30 acre site. It is only suitable for forestry but as a non farmer the premium would be too small to make it a good investment.

You will find land fot 2000 in the west if you look hard enough. I know a farmer who is going to sell me 4 acres of ok'ish land for 10k and 1 acre of it has site potential. Going to buy it when my house sells
