[DFB] Temporary Emergency Services Controller

App.form I received is quite strange, there's 2 pages asking "position applied for"....and one position is headlined emergency controller temporary and other is "firefighter DFB (confined)......any1 shed any light on that??

Controller is the external recruitment which was advertised on public jobs. The other is an internal DCC recruitment.
Fill in the appropriate form , which i assume is the controller

They are just using the same application form for the interview as the one they used for the internal recruitment for fire fighter. Don't worry too much about it just stick to the sections for the position your going for. Good luck

Error on DCC's part. Job title wasn't changed on some parts of the application form, just ignore.

Just to clarify for myself and anyone else reading this.
Fill out all sections of the application form regardless of the headings!

Be aware that anyone successful at interview will be expected to complete a medical & physical towards the end of November / start of December.

Hello all, just thought I'd post up today seeing as the application deadline is today, did everyone get theirs in?

I found there was very little space in it to write about employment and other skills, anyone else think this? All done now, Probably another 2 weeks til we hear I'd say

Does anybody have a best guestimate as to how much the average successful applicant can can expect to gross earn (including allowances and anything else the might add to it) in year 1?

Although there's a long way to go I'm still not 100% if I get the job I'd accept it, the money is the main concern.

Hey dudes,
Got my letter today... FREAKING OUT... was reading through earlier posts and someone said there'll be a physical/medical soon.. anyone know if this is true? I know FF is the dream, but honestly, I hate my job so much the controller job would make me more than happy.

The original information book said there would be physical and medical. The speed things are moving id take it as true.

As far as I know, if you do well at interview and are brought forward, then it's a series of physical tests and a medical, standard FF selection I'd imagine considering the view is to undertake FF training after the three years (hopefully) Good luck to all at interview

Got my letter yesterday interview 31st, gotta get down and dirty wit interview preparation and read my trust book of "firemanship" I've had since my AFS days....best of luck to every2 else, for me this is closest I've got to my childhood dream so putting 110% effort in2 preparation

You will have to do the standard FF physical before you start as Emergency Services Controller and again in 3 years time, just in case you got lazy lol

Yeah i'd imagine 3 years of sitting on one's arse in a control room may have adverse effects on physical fitness! Any idea how solid the transition to FF will be, as in how likely would it be that the controllers are given the opportunity?

It's the first time anything like this has been done so it's hard to say how it will work in 3 years time. I'd imagine it's how things could work in the future i.e similar campaigns every 3 years.

I believe yesterday was the last day as far as i know, and I have heard that we may hear today about results. Take it with a pinch of salt, just whispers I've heard etc. Good luck to all..

Yeah, I checked with home and no post for me so far anyway so unless for some reason it comes later in the day by post it must be next week? Im sure someone will post up here if they hear anything anyway!

Results will be available on Monday. So letters wont be going out till then at the earliest.
