No, couldn't be doing with the replacement items (although one doesn't have to accept them it's still a pain) and then there is the "we didn't have it in stock issue", at least in store you can choose an alternative. No point in waiting for something for the dinner to arrive and it wasn't in stock.

My experience is there are several substitutions and out of stock items in each order. I switched to SuperValu online due to Tesco being so bad.

you dont have to get any replacement items at all.
you do know that there is an option on the order for no substitutions ?

That leaves you with only half the stuff you ordered. They quite often have wrong pack sizes or wrong prices. They are still selling 500gram nets of easi-peeler oranges but they advertise them as 600grams. They have been doing that foe at least 6 months despite it being brought to their attention.

What time was your delivery for? Alcohl is not allowed on the last two delivery slots afaik.
    .

    Between 8.00 pm -10.00 pm

    However, Tesco's own website states:
We are unable to deliver alcohol before 10.30am for legal reasons. If you include alcohol as part of your order you will be unable to book a slot where any part of the delivery may fall before 10.30am (this includes, for example, a 10-11am slot).
    - taken from Tesco's help on delivery.

No mention of late slots. When I rang tesco and queried, I'd have expected them to know that.

Great service. I'm a regular weekly shopper with them. I save on fuel and don't have to walk around that massive extra store .

To be completely honest with a full family shop of over 200 euro I don't get many substitutions at all. Most of the time I get none . The drivers are always a bit of craic as well. I don't like the people on the english customer care line though. They can be a bit nasty when they want to be.

If you are ordering essential items like Brennan's bread or milk and veg, its going to be in stock.

But if you order less popular stuff like a certain type of craft beer or a highly sought after reduced price item you may be substituted.

I guess its hard to keep all of the people happy, all of the time. Even with a 20 quid off voucher. LOL

Am I doing something wrong - Ordered 12 bottles of wine - total before 20 euro disocunt is 61.88 pluss 6.50 delivery. Applies 20 euro discount but no sign of 25% discount for wine - total put through 48.38??

As you're checking out you'll notice it says guide price. If you hover over that it explains that it isn't necessarily the actual price you pay at collection

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 98 ✭✭bearclaire

at the start of this thread it says this code expires 25th sept 2013, it says on Tescos online it doesnt expire until 1st nov 2013.

so you reckon they'll take it off anyway? off the bottom price of 48.38 or off original price of bottles of wine - how would they work it you reckon?
    thanks

I have six bottles of wine (@ 16.00 now 8.00 half off) showing up as 96 euro.
instead of 8*6 *.75 instead of 36 euro.

Do you think its ok to get the full discount on the day?

You should get that discount on the day. If you don't I'd go straight to the customer service desk to get a full refund

Also, there is no way in hell those bottles of wine were ever genuinely at RRP €16. it's just another example of Tesco's cavaleer attitude towards honest trading.

    Ban billionaires

Yep you will get the discount and there is usually no quibble with returns.(unless you are trying to pull a fast one)

Have to agree with ya on price reductions. They have to sell it at a increased price for a time then knock a bit off to reflect a true value.

Dunnes and SV do it as well. Loopholes in trading laws allow them to do it.

What do they care? If tesco really didn't want this used over and over again they'd have used the address or payment card details to determine 1st time purchaser or not, instead they chose an email address as a means of determination. Nuts.

I guess it is sales for store they come out of no matter what happens.
Im guessing the vast majority of people will not abuse the offer and they are willing to take the hit on Boardsies...:pac:

Put alot of money through Tesco do not feel one bit guilty about my 30 bottles of wine for €130 :) I don't remember ever buying a bottle of wine for €4.30!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 695 ✭✭✭jinkybhoy

I got 12 bottles of wine (I like the simply range so low end) for 2.89 per bottle!!!! Beat that!!

On another note - I got the 25% discount on the wine - ordered wed 25th sept and delivered friday 27th. My mum ordered same - 12 bottles on - friday 27th - delivery not until monday 30th Sept. She didn't get the 25% - only 5%.

Now the offer was i'm sure ordered or delivered before sunday 29th Sept - Am I correct?

I have emailed online@tesco.ie this morning so just waiting on a response.

    Thanks

Prices are charged at time of delivery not time of ordering so as the promotion ended Sunday and goods delivered Monday, that price was charged

Was the wording not something like discount applied at point of purchase not when placed in basket - has anyone got the exact wording of the ad? Im sure i read it to mean if ordered before date it would be applied?

"Discount applied at point of purchase and not when items are placed in basket"

That the wording at the moment for the 5% discount

I posted this in some tesco thread or other

"*25% discount off all wine and champagne is applied when you purchase 6 bottles or more at point of purchase and not when items are placed in the basket. This deduction replaces the normal 5% off when you buy 6 bottles or more. Subject to availability, while stocks last. Valid on deliveries between 26/09/13 and 29/09/13."

Point of purchase is when your order is processed in store and the final total is calculated (eg to take account of weighing produce) Your basket in this instance is your metaphorical online basket on the website

    HTH

Got email back from them - they should have given the 25% discount and they will be refunding this. I asked about the double the difference but they say it doesn;t apply to onlin - only in store.
