Have to admit, this story has absolutely knocked me for six. It's incredibly tragic, but equally as heartwarming. I suppose because I'd like to think my little dog would do the same for me! God love her poor family, but I hope they can find comfort and strength somewhere in all of this. Fair play to the volunteers and DID. We really do live amongst hidden heroes.

    RIP Peggy & Casper x

I've listened, watched and followed this story from day one and what has struck me is the amount of people who have felt connected to it and so are genuinely very upset that it has ended so tragically.
It's a strange thing when we have never met someone but feel connected to them in their hour of need.
I'm not ashamed to admit that I got choked up when the final news came today and having read so much on FB and here(and elsewhere), that this woman and her pal who we had never met but had touched so many of our lives, has made such an impact on people and their emotions.

I hope her family and loved one's know how many people have prayed and shed a tear for Peggy and her little pal, Casper and that they are not alone in their grief.

    RIP Peggy and Casper :(

It's such a sad ending to an already sad situation. At least her friend stuck by her till the end. The response to this from the people of Finglas and the surrounding area was incredible and I'm sure that it meant a lot to Peggy's loved ones.

Maybe it would be nice if someone could post up some general information about this poor lady when she was hale and hearty.

It seems so upsetting just to know of her by her final desperate days wandering around north Dublin.

I only found out about this during the week, but around 20 years ago my grandmother developed Alzheimer's and she lived right next door to Peggy.
Peggy looked after her and took care of her needs out of friendship and pure benevolence. I don't remember Peggy myself, but my mother and father and several other cousins mentioned her, and spoke of her in glowing terms.

It was so sad to hear her story during the week to find out she has developed the same disease herself. It must have been terrible for her family, and friends trying to deal with her disappearance. I felt genuine sadness myself and I didn't even know Peggy.

    R.I.P. Peggy.

Have found this story very sad from day one. Alzheimer's is such a horrible, horrible illness. What a terribly sad outcome, she must have been so upset over the last few days. No doubt her little buddy was a huge comfort to her during that time.

    Rest well Peggy and Casper

this is such a heartbreaken story and im truly so sorry for the family i hope in months time the family realise this story touch a nation, and where not all of us cld go searching, for reasons of small kids, family, transport, hundreds of people had her in out prayers, i cried buckets when i heard this last nite, and poor casper, what a friend to the end, proberly died of hunger and thirst, as he didnt want to leave his master, i hope they are buried together, though i suppose the good catholic church wont allow this, but maybe some one can put casper in the grave later, as he deserve this honour.
