Poor woman may she RIP, its great to see the support from the public in searching for this lady, it really shows the true colours of the people of Dublin!!

It is some comfort that her loyal companion casper remained by her side throughout, i'm sure that was great comfort to peggy!!

I was out doing a sport today and at five o'clock when I was driving home, the news on the radio had the headline that Peggys body had been found, I'd had a great day, but that news just put a complete dampener on it.

I'm glad Casper stayed with her and saddened at the news he has also died.

At least she had her faithful friend to the end.

RIP Peggy and Casper, may you both be together now, free from the fear of that awful disease.

    Condolences to Peggys family too.

And well done to those strangers who gave of their time to help in the search for Peggy lovely to see a sense of community in Irelands biggest city.

Fair play to D.I.D and the people of Finglas who really came out in force to help look for a woman they didnt know.
R.I.P Peggy and Casper her companion to the very end.
So very sad but at least they are together in death as in they were in life.

Many worry about Artificial Intelligence. I worry far more about Organic Idiocy.

Weakened by days of exposure and no or little food I suppose. He could have abandoned her but he stayed to the end. So terribly sad.

This is just heartbreaking. The poor woman. Her poor family, my heart goes out to them, there was so much hope she'd be found safe.
Just heartbreaking. And poor Casper, like he waited to make sure she was found. :(

Or to be very non pragmatic, of a broken heart?

Plenty of anecdotal evidence of older dogs dying very shortly after an elderly owner.

I'd one myself, a rescue dog who was almost twenty who came into rescue after his owner died, he'd a few short weeks with us before he became very frail and simply passed away

I too am wondering. I've often heard stories about how dogs behave around their owners deaths. Always loyal.

That's really devastating. Really thought it would be a better outcome, they were so close to finding her. I really hope it was a case that she slipped away in her sleep and was not to uncomfortable. May she RIP.

I think in all of this, as well as the amazing group of volunteers that spent day and night looking for her, the staff of DID electrical are heroes in this story also. They ceased trading for a couple of days so that the search had a headquarters and provided tea & sandwiches. Not to go into off on one but I'm going to say it, in these times it's very rare you'd come across a large business willing to do this for a couple of hours, let alone a couple of days.

It's such a pity she couldn't see the efforts put into finding her, but I really wish everyone who helped with the search all the luck in the world and hope they are not too badly affected by the tragic outcome.

Maybe it would be nice if someone could post up some general information about this poor lady when she was hale and hearty.

It seems so upsetting just to know of her by her final desperate days wandering around north Dublin.

I hope her family will take comfort from the effort made by everyone.

And yes plaudits to DID for suspending business to assist as they did.

Poor lil guy, he managed to hang in there watching over her til his special person was found.

Even without the lack food and shelter, that is awful long distance to walk for a small and old dog too.

Really sad. I seen this earlier but just posting now.
I know it might strange but it'd be nice if the dog was buried with her.
This tragic moment Shows what a dogs loyalty stands for.
Wish the family all the best at this time.

I just read on the D.I.D page that the dog died 3 hours after her, so sad.
Probably died of fatigue and a broken heart.. :(
May they both rest in peace.

    RIP.

A very sad story. Would she and her dog have died from starvation in the end?

Casper most likely died from a broken heart.

Dreadful end to this. I cannot believe they were not found in time
Casper with her to the end.

Proven point aswell. Alot of dogs have died of it when owner passes.
Happened to a spaniel who died when her owner died in Afghanistan.
    Sorry for off topic chat.

Could be quite literally, Cavs tend to get problems with their heart valves in old age and 10 is very old for a Cav.
