    Hi Guys,

I recently made a thread in another section of the forum about buying a new laptop as I've moved into year 2 computer science and need to be able to work off windows and unix.

Unfortunately there was very little space on my 250gb HD on my macbook, which had me thinking about buying a new laptop.
After chatting to some techies in work I have decided to buy a 128gb SSD and casing, then use it as an external HD for visualizing windows and linux.

I am now looking at upgrading my ram on my macbook pro,
I currently have 4gb's ram but want to up it to 8gb's (as far as I know its as far as it will recognize anyway.)

I remember reading awhile ago that its important what ones you buy particularly for a macbook. Can any point me in the right direction?

    Cheers

You probably don't need more RAM btw. 4GB is plenty for general usage, unless you have a specific reason for it.

I needed it to create virtual desktops for windows and linux through Orcale virtualbox.

I ordered the ram from crucial on wednesday, arrived on friday. Installed ram easily enough and it's running beautifully now.

    Well worth the investment.

    Thanks for the help guys.
