Looking at rear mechs on line for my winter bike. Is there any difference between 5700 and 5701 in 105 rear mechs??

And how do you know if one's existing cage is "medium" or "short"?

The 'short' cage looks like a number 8. The medium cage looks more stretched out. If you have a triple you need the medium cage, double or compact is probably fine with the short cage (unless you have a wide range cassette).

Cheers, it's just a compact double. 11:27 cassette.

I was pretty sure I had the right one, but some Portuguese dude on CRC has a 1 star review for the "5701" saying that 5700 is great but 5701 is crap

    -Google translate:
"The model 105 5700 10 is perfect, but the 5701 model 105 does not work well with 10 speed, I hope to launch a Shimano STI compatible with Cambio 105 5701."

Feckin confusing me with his foreignity!!!! :pac:
