Recently secured a role, has anyone had a company not ask for references?
I thought it was the norm these days, bit sceptical of them also for a few other things they have said.

    Thanks

I wasn't asked for any in my last job.
    Nor the one before that.

Maybe I'm just a really good interviewee :p

Out of curiosity, what are the other things they said?

The last place I worked didn't ask for references. The recruiter ended up doing it herself. Company turned out to be a f**king circus. Never again.

Companies don't always look for references.

They're not worth a lot, in my opinion.

Many large organisations these days will only give a standard reference stating that X worked here between these dates - no other information.

And I'd usually take a great reference with a pinch of salt, anyways ... after all, the potential employee is only going to give you contact details of someone in the company who they KNOW will give a good reference.

Ya that's what I'm afraid of.
