Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

"Oooh what an atmosphere,I love a party with a happy atmosphere...there's music everywhere, and soon we'll be dancing in the cool night air..."

    "Wo ho ho wo ho.
    Hangin tough.Hangin tough.Hangin tough.Hangin tough.
    Wo ho ho wo ho."

"Americanos, blue jeans and chinos....in the land of the free you can be what you wanna be."

"It's got what it takes,so tell me why can't this be love....straight from the heart,oh tell me why can't this be love."

    And for some nineties nonsense:

"I tell ya what I want what I really really want,so tell me what ya want what ya really really want,I wanna ha I wanna ha I wanna ha I wanna ha I wanna ha I really really wanna ziggy zag ha..."

"You're no good for me,I don't need nobody....Don't need no-one that's no good for me...."

"Don't you cry tonight,I still love you baby, don't you cry tonight, there's a heaven above you baby..."

"Mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm....
Mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm mmmm...."

Russ Abbot!!! I remember that. In fact I think it was imprinted on my brain because every time I go shopping in Penny's and wander through the part with the Atmosphere brand, I inevitably end up humming that song for the rest of the day. :o

    THAT'S who it was!
I dunno what made me think it was some TV presenter.

Does anybody remember the song which went with......"To the very very young and the very very old-every one of you say aye.To the centre of the earth and to the corners of the world-everybody now say aye....."
Was that one used in some TV ad back then?

Here it is. I don't remember it in an ad but I thought it was a great song back then!

"Living in a Box" now I think that is awful!

The Red Box song is decent. Also liked their follow-up For America.

    That's a pretty damning generalisation.
While Nick Kamen's output was mostly generic fluff, do you really think the other three artists produced absolutely nothing of merit?

This b-side from Club Tropicana is a smooth balearic classic.

Church Of The Poison Mind is an assured beat-driven floorfiller with a great backing vocal from Helen Terry.

Five Star had quite a few smooth soul singles with some quality remixes. This is one.

The melody of Church of the Poison Mind sounds suspiciously like that of Back Of Love by Echo And The Bunnymen which came out about a year beforehand.Sorry I don't know how to properly embed videos but heres the link.Coincidence?

"Someone left my cake out in the rain.....I don't think that I can take it because I took so long to bake it,and I'll never have that recipe again.oh no..."

I don't know what era that song was from-but I can remember p***in myself laughin when I first heard it,mainly at the way he was singing, and at the lyrics. But the song probably has some deeper meaning to it.....

I remember as well in a shop where I was workin, there was a continuous tape or CD playin, and every time it played the song "Sylvia's Mother" it used to drive me mad!!!

Jesus I hate "Sylvia's mother" - terrible dirge. The other song is "Macarthur Park" and I think it was Richard Harris singing it. Mental lyric all right! (I wonder if it was a hash cake).

"Don't tell my heart,my achin breakin heart,I just don't think you understand-
That if you tell my heart,my achey breaky heart,it might blow up and kill this man."

I know a lot of people like(d) this song, but back then I couldn't help wondering how the hell it got to number one

Apologies for going slightly off topic-I just wanna ask about the song "Chinese Boy" (from the late 70s or early 80s).....
There was a story that this song did not become a hit in Japan, because the Japanese hated it and there was a kind of uproar because of it over there; and the woman who sang the song(who was neither Chinese nor Japanese) hit back at them by saying publicly that she would never do a tour in Japan because she thought Japan is too much like China.

Is any of this true,or have I got the whole story completely wrong?

Has some good "pigeon street" synth at the start.

    top quote!
    Lyrics by what I hear:
Mister can you tell me where my love has gone?
    Easy Japanese porn
I woke up one morning and my love was gone
    Oh, my Japanese porn
Ooh, I miss my Japanese porn
Ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh ahh...
Ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh ooh...

Remember this one from the Power Rangers movie:

"Uh-oh,we're in trouble, something's come along and it's burst our bubble yeah yeah
Uh-oh,we're in trouble, gotta get home quick march on the double...
We were out all night and haven't yet been home,we're walking through the backstreets all alone,
The party was great yeah we were really thrilled, but when we get home we're gonna get gonna get gonna get killed!!"

Bunch of naughty girls trying their hands at songwriting and coming up with something worse than a fork being dragged accross a plate x-(

Still no joy I'm afraid-the link is highlìghted when I get the new post notification by email but it just says "invalid request",and when the link is on the actual forum it is not highlighted.I havent a clue why this is happening-I was able to look at earlier videos you posted and I can view others clips as well.

Anyway,I'll guess that the song is a dance/techno/rave song(or whatever they call that rubbish) called "Sesame's Treats"???

"It's no good, can't you see, brother Louie Louie Louie....
Brother Louie Louie Louie, ohhhh she's walkin over to me...."

Pity the car wasn't from back in that day as well!

Jeez....I had absolutely no idea that twas a man singing the whole of that song-I genuinely honestly thought that twas a woman singing the verses and a man just joined in for the chorus.Obviously I shouldve listened to the lyrics properly when they were playin it on the radio all those years ago :-) :-) yep,tis me first time seein the video.
