    Hurry up international break!!!!

To make it worse then we have to wait until Monday night for our game. Obviously good in terms of recovery time, especially for Sturridge, but still irritating.

Apparently Suarez said on a Uruguay radio station that he's in talks to join One Direction as a replacement for Tomlinson.

Having nothing to complain about is really boring. I'm seriously considering supporting Sunderland

    Some negative news.
LIVERPOOL TRIED TO SIGN GABRIEL BATISTUTA

Former Liverpool manager Roy Evans has revealed he tried to bring legendary Argentinian striker Gabriel Batistuta to the club.

Evans had hoped to pair ‘Batigol’ with Reds legend Robbie Fowler in the mid-1990s, but the deal never materialised.

As it happened, Batistuta remained in Italy with Fiorentina, for whom he scored 168 goals in 269 games, before moving on to Serie A rivals Roma.

Evans told the club’s official website: “There were talks of him moving from Italy to somewhere else.

“We had an interest; there were some conversations between Liverpool and his club. He was interested, but unfortunately it just didn’t happen.

“It was one of those things where you make an enquiry and it just didn’t go any further than that. I’m sure he would have been a great acquisition for us if we had got him.”

And Evans had also hoped to sign Teddy Sheringham before the England international joined Manchester United.

Asked what sort of impact the arrival of Batistuta might have had on his young team, Evans said: “We’ll never know. When you’re the manager you always want other players because you’re worried about loss of form and injuries.

“You’re always looking to enhance your squad. Maybe it would have done, maybe it wouldn’t. We also went in for the likes of Teddy Sheringham at that time.

“Teddy was very interested in coming; he was 29 or 30 at the time. But the club had a policy of not buying older players. As it happened, he went to Manchester United and played for six or seven years there with great success.”

Was a massive Batigol fan as a kid :(:(:(

Sometimes these little snippets of what could have been are good ... In this case they are not!!!

Still, I signed Batistuta in the old championship manager, it was golden.

I'm look at this as a huge positive. Gives Sturridge a better chance of recovery plus it gives Brendan more time with the players and new signings. Could be a blessing in disguise.

I said all that, but it's still irritating!

Yeah, no problems with Kelly or Wisdom slotting in there.

Jesus talk about the Liverpool forum simmering down :)

Everyone is so laid back, think I might start supporting UTD on the side for something to complain about :)

Don't worry. When we capitulate 2-0 to Swansea and put in a dreadfully anaemic performance, things will be back to normal around here.

Blokhin, Dynamo Kiev's manager has confirmed that there were two offers for Yarmolenko during the window, one from both Zenit and Liverpool.

Wisdom is grand, he has come on well enough so far but he is technically very poor imo for the standard he needs to get to.

Wisdom has excellent technique. He has very good close control for a defender, is very reliable in possession and generally assured on the ball.

His crossing has been fairly dreadful, but I'd put a lot of that down to not being used to playing as an attacking full back and/or nerves.

He is a lot better technically than Kelly, but Kelly's crossing is better than any of our right back options. Johnson's crossing is shocking.

I still think Kelly could be a long term contributer for us. He put in a good run for the first team before the injury problems. At least you feel confident defensively when he's on the pitch. Doesn't get beat easily.

He isnt even close to Kelly technically. Nosebleed after the half way line.

Wisdom will never be able to do this. Never.

A work colleague of mine refers to Wisdom as a modern-day Gus Caesar :D....bit harsh imho.

Presumably, he will be able to learn & improve his passing, crossing, attacking as he gets older and could be a really solid right back if handled correctly. Could be the new Steve Nicol ;)

Can't ever see Wisdom scoring a hat-trick in a league game tbh!!!

If he was half the player Nicol was, Christ we'd all be delighted! :P

    i look forward to it!
all this winning and not letting goals in and having some sort of decent transfer window with a return of a world class striker makes it pretty dull around here.
peoples post counts are way down and work productivity is way up

    yea can't be having that.

He is easily where Kelly was in terms of technique and development at the same age, is probably quite a bit beyond the same point actually. Kelly is a player I rate but Wisdom last season was a far better player than Kelly was at 19.

As for Wisdom getting nosebleeds once he crosses the halfway line, well I can remember many people, myself included, thinking that about Kelly three or four years ago when he was somewhat prone to running down blind alleys once he got into the other team's half.

Wisdom only turned 20 a few months back. If he stays injury free I would have great hopes for him being a far more rounded player in three years time when he is the same age as Kelly is now.

Am quite happy to have both around if Johnson is out for a long spell though, as would not be upset to see either filling in at right back for an extended period.

One good thing about this is that Ryan McLaughlin might be in and around the first team setup, without any actual playing time probably, a bit more now, although hopefully he will continue to feature for the u-21's as well. Poor old Jon Flanagan's promising start to his senior career seems to have tapered way off. I'm somewhat surprised he is still at the club even.
