Wondering if anyone has heard about getting a SIM card for your phone while you are travelling around Europe. Think it would be great to be able to use our own phones to look up information etc while we are away travelling in Italy next year for 3 weeks.

Does anyone know much about how they can be purchased or what is the craic with using them.

    Thanks

Italy is one of the countries covered by the "Three like home" offer from the Three which means you pay the same charges as you would at home using your own phone and sim.
Other operators will have roaming agreements which means you use your own phone and sim but will charge more.

Once your phone is unlocked just get a local italian sim-card and your sorted. They usually sell these at the airports but any shopping centre will help too, never been to italy myself so maybe some-one else can advise re: best networks for coverage and value for money.

    Hi,

The link is not working properly from my PC.

But I guess you can try buying a product called -Magic SIM- with which you can get two SIM cards in the same device even if the phone is designed to work with just one.

Another thing that you can do is buy a cheap dual SIM phone and keep your home number and buy one "free SIM card" in the place where you plan to go and call with it while you're traveling.

    Regards
