Rockstars new financial year starts in late February....so it speculated as a late March release. Consoles are bug testers for the PC version which should have all the patches and bug fixes pre-installed.

    Btw.....first time ever playing GTA, i pre-order number 5 today, but 65 quid?......ffs!

For the hours upon hours of gameplay you'll get out of it, it's worth every single cent.

If I'm reading this right, the cost of producing GTAV is the second most expensive of any entertainment product, including films, in history.

If that's true, then it is very scary thing. GTA most likely will make a profit, but they will need to sell a ton **** of copies just too break even. Almost all of the active 360/ps3 have to buy this game for them to make good profit. Yes, we got about 160mil current gen consoles sold, but how many of them bough twice by same person, how many people have both ps3 and 360 and will buy only one copy? How many people don't like GTA at all?

Think they've already broke even on preorders alone, so there's no fear of them not turning a profit.

It's around €190m from what I can see.

So at €50 a pop, that would be 3.8m copies sold. Now obviously the revenues are all going to be split up between developer, publisher, retailer etc but it'll do 3.8m copies on opening weekend I reckon. It's going to sell 15m+ I would imagine in its lifetime.

The special editions would go some way of reducing that target, being €80 & €150.

Not all of that 50 is going to developer. I am pretty sure they have more expenses for marketing after that too. We already got sleeping dogs and tomb raider examples and those did not even went near such budgets.

I would be utterly shocked if this game doesn't turn over a huge profit. 2.5m pre-orders in the US alone puts them at around $150m in turnover already and that's assuming they are all just regular editions.

    I know, that's exactly what I said.

On the rest of your post, Tomb Raider sold somewhere between 3 and 4 million units. GTAV will do a multiple of that. Sleeping Dogs did less than 2m units. I think I read somewhere that GTAV has more than that in pre-orders.

It will make profit, but 265mil $ budget is mad. I doubt its a final number too.

GTAIV sold twenty five million copies all told, for comparison. Now some of those would have been on PC and therefore a good bit cheaper than console versions but if you guess at even €25 a copy that's over €600m in revenue.

GTAV is going to make a massive profit.

Well it does look like a lot. You are right, they will still make profit, but I still think that almost 200mil EU budget is freaking mad.

A huge portion of that budget though is marketing....i doubt the game itself cost 100 million, probably 80 million.

the game is expected to break 1 billion......big profit.
